For the folks that think it’s been a concussion with Drouin, it’s not.

"Between the pipes: Can't pin this one on Blackwood, ..."

:) You started to write this up before the last minute comeback, and then forgot to change this part, didn't you?

But really, just thanks for the digging and background on the Drouin situation. More than we usually get, and it helps cut down our speculation, in one area anyway.

Ludwig was waived.

So once all D return how will Colorado top 6 look on defense? Who will be 7th defenseman?

Middleton or de Haan. We’ve been carrying 8 since Ludvig was recalled from his conditioning stint.

Toews - Makar
Girard - Manson
CdH/Middleton - Malinski
CdH/Middleton

Regardless, I don’t think anybody will pickup Ludvig.

I agree with that. So what happens to Kylington? Goes on waivers probably?

Honestly interested in how folks feel/think about this...

If Gabe really thinks he's ready, why would he be waiting until after the 4 Nations tournament to come back?

Wouldn't he be on the ice trying to make Sweden's team? With as few best on best tournaments as Gabe has been allowed to perform in, does anyone really think he would willingly skip this one, if healthy? If Sweden doesn't keep a roster spot open for him as an injury replacement, I'm not sure how excited I should get. But I do grin everytime I see him back on the ice... so I have that going for me.

Did they actually put him on the roster in an injury slot?

This is where I get mad at my editor and take no blame…

"There's so many things we can do now to kind of mask it for a couple of hours," he said. "I can fight through it. It's something that's tolerable and playable. Unless I break my leg or something really breaks in half, I'll be playing as long as I feel good enough to play and help my team."

I do not like reading this. I agree, they can absolutely mask things for a couple of hours and allow him to play pain free. But we all know what those things they do to mask pain for hours are right? RIGHT? He's running a risk if he's using the Avs med staff to adminster high level drugs to get him through a game.

Nichushkin's 7-10 day injury will now be at least 3 weeks.

Good stuff.
Are we gaining anything in cap space with him being out of the lineup but not on LTIR? Not sure why, but I just keep getting confused on how teams can "gain" cap space throughout the year in order to accomodate more expensive players at the deadline. If Nuke being scratched does benefit the team in any way, wouldn't this also maybe be a sign they are trying to clear space every way they can to be able to activate Landy?

More than likely, Middleton will be sent down.
I agree... but I also object. It's the wrong move, but it's the move they will make. Middleton offers two things... a more physical presence, but more importantly... he's an objectively better defenseman.
