He's been playing really well lately. He talked about how it's frustrating that he is still limited to around 20 minutes a night but that it's important he doesn't rush himself back. He still takes scheduled days off and around 20 minutes restriction.

Bednar's head will explode if he can't play Landeskog more than 20 minutes.

Oh ok. Then I’m not sure how they’ll do it. Maybe Kylington goes on LTIR but he only makes 1 mill. Then they send someone like Innala to Eagles, that’s another what? 700 or 800 K, not sure how we gonna do it

Yeah, it's the big conundrum.

I think Landy could have played by now if he wanted to do 4th line role and take days off. The Cap doesn't allow for that to work and Landy knows it. He cannot have the same path back as Lonzo because of Cap space, not to mention the Bulls are terrible.

Ony way to make it work is a trade or one of the banged up guys going on LTIR the rest of the season (Toews, Manson, Nuke...). Or you just wait until the playoffs.

I don’t think they can just suddenly put guys like Toews, Manson or Val on LTIR who look healthy and playing. Val is only out 7-10 days, not sure how you got from 10 days to out for the season. The league won’t allow that to happen unless Val is really hurt and that 7-10 days becomes weeks and months then LTIR for the season. I think Avs have to trade a roster player for draft pick or something to free up space, but who do we trade?

Both of them.

Easy for me.

Colton is making $4m and is now apparently a better winger than center. So we don’t trust a guy making $4m to be our 3rd line center and he’s too expensive to be a bottom 6 winger.

Wood is making $2.5m and is overpaid. Period.

Colton has a full no-trade clause through this season and Wood has a 6 team no-trade clause. Probably have to package them together to convince Ross or both of them to waive.

It's really not hard to LTIR someone for something. Toews has dealt with an injury all year, just say he needs time/surgery to heal and LTIR. Manson is still injured, do the same.

I mean if we only need 3 mill cap space to bring Landy back, maybe CMac doesn’t really have to do something dramatic like trading Colton or Manson, just keep Wood on LTIR, Innala goes to Eagles, and we just gonna need like 2 mill or less to activate Landy? If we also LTIR Kylington who just went on IR

I just don’t think CMac will want to trade Colton or Manson, this players are important for a playoff run. He’ll manage something. CMac is good at handling the cap

You can’t just say Toews needs time or surgery to heal. The league has to approve it. Toews is looking better and better. He was a beast in the last game vs Jets. How you go from that to suddenly out for the season? I mean you also can’t just force Toews to have a surgery

I think what will happen is they’ll just keep Landy on LTIR until playoffs. The concern is he hasn’t played for 3 years now and suddenly put him in for the playoffs. I think that’ll be ok. Just put him on 3rd or even 4th line kinda limited ice time for the 1st round to get him back up to speed and game shape, shaking off the rust, and after the 1st round(if we advance which we should) Landy should be up to speed.

They're just gonna insert him into the lineup and promise the Caps some favors in the future. Remember, no one has any f***ing clue as to any team's cap situation other than the Caps

Imagine trading Colton and Wood and then landeskog is back 2 games then done. Bye bye depth. Playoffs or nothing.
Those two f***ing games man!!!!

They are actually pretty much engrained in my memory forever. That's why I felt so bitter towards him hanging them up the day of his first home game. Those two games, he was one of the only players that looked like they were trying. Even defeated and done, he was better than 95% of our roster... and he never got to skate off the ice in front of his home fans.

Even if he didn't want or felt he couldn't have played... the Avs should have gone a man short and told Foppa, f*** off... you take the opening face off, you skate to the bench and you sit your ass here and listen to the fans for the next 59 minutes. When the game is done and he's announched #1 star, he could have taken one last lap in an Avs jersey in front of a wildly loving home audience.

Wood provides nothing and I’d rather spend 6.25m extending Rantanen/Drouin/Malinski than on Colton/Wood.
Brutal but accurate.

You know me, I always am going to love and defend my meat and potatoes players. I love the Messiers, Podeins, Hinotes, Svatos, LOCs, etc... Wood and Colton both play that game to a tee but that's not really what we want/need from our third line when the first unit is taking more than half the game up.

That third line has to be able to produce offense as well as shuting down who they are playing against. It's not good enough to just shut them down with the way the Avs are built. The third line has to be able to contribute offensively at a decent clip as well. Maybe not prolifically but serioualy....it needs to be periodic and much more periodic that it has been.

Wood as you said, isn't worth 2M+. Colton at 4M...I'm still torn on. Can he be an effective top six winger? If so, 4M is a good deal and he should be played as such and traded as such. He's not a 4M C though. I'm glad the Avs tried, it could've been bannana's had he become something approaching a sub-standard 2C jbut the fact is, playing C limits his effectiveness as it neuters his physicality and his ability to thrive on chaos. Centers shouldn't plan on chaos, but I think guys like Colton and Wood thrive on it.
