2024 - 2025 Injury Reports

Well that means he probably will not be ready for the playoffs. UUGGHH!!
Yeah, the playoffs start probably around 2 weeks from today. So it’s possible he can return around then but that’d be pretty hopeful.

My guess is he strained something with his hip. That sort of thing is probably pretty hard to pinpoint a timeline on.

Tough break but next man up.

I guess that’s better than out for months and def done for the yr. First day of playoffs would start 4/19 or 4/20 most likely so let’s hope for the best. Snuggler will def play a bigger role than what was anticipated.

Sucks, given how consistent that line has been. Hoping they simply plug Bolduc in there and create new 3rd line with Snuggs.

Neighbours-RT-Buch
Bolduc-Schenn-kyrou
Joseph-Sunny-snuggs
WTF

And then get Holloway back for the playoffs.

Whatever, this year is playing with house money. I just hope it isn’t something that will nag him for future seasons. If it’s hip, that sort of makes me nervous.

The lines in practice today were

Neighbours-Schenn-Kyrou
Joseph-Sundqvist-Bolduc

Well, Monty knows best. Just seems that Bolduc’s speed would help mimic some of the style of the Holloway-Schenn-Kyrou line. Having Kyrou “slow down” to wait on the plodding Neighbours seems counter-intuitive to me. But like I said, in Monty I trust

If it was something serious enough for Holloway to miss the postseason, would the team really be keeping it this close to the vest? Seems like if he's done there's no point in keeping it under wraps.
I bet it’s the sort of injury that doesn’t really have much of a set timeline. I don’t expect him in the 1st round. If/when he starts practicing again, I’ll start considering him close.

Heard JR tweeted that the news the Blues got from a doctor visit was not what they wanted to hear on Holloway. Guessing he’s out a while and wouldn’t be available for the 1st round if we make the playoffs

I just hope it isn’t anything long term or something significant that hinders him long term.

Here’s what he wrote:

So he’ll be back in a week then. Thanks JR!

In seriousness, no one is talking about surgery yet so hopefully “a while” means a few weeks and full recovery. It could be unfortunate for this year’s playoffs, but totally resolved by training camp. When someone says an injury is serious or long term, I’m thinking permanent structural damage or surgical repair.

I'm not speculating on what the injury is, other than to say - if it's his hip, I'd almost prefer he doesn't come back. The list of elite players changed and/or plagued by trying to come back too early from a hip injury is one you want to stay far away from.

From personal experience, I had a contusion (pointer) that I didn't rehab properly and tried to get back skating...that led to groin issues, which led to a labrum strain and on and on.

Toews, Nash, Landeskog, Seguin, Karlsson...I believe, all started with varying hip issues as a root.

All this being said, I'm not suggesting its hip. Watching that replay, you could convince yourself it's a knee thing, a back thing, a rib thing, or even an organ thing. Just airing my hip anxiety.

The reporting on this injury is super odd. Lotta dancing around actually reporting anything tangible. My guess is it's hip. That's the type of injury that I think fits the supposed team reaction and timeline. I agree with what has already been said. Prioritize his long-term career over this season. Being in the playoffs this year is great, but this is not the peak of this team. We will be better in the coming years, no need to rush him back quick and risk causing continual issues down the line.
