I know the KHL is the top league there, what is the Rus-VHL in relation to that?

Also, sort of crazy to have a 1.91 GAA and 0.927 and have 7 losses and 7 ties.

I’m going to miss Knight and he’s going to be a star but at the end of the day, goalies are the most replaceable. You don’t need a superstar in net to win. You need a good team around a quality goaltender. Hopefully these Russians develop into something.

I disagree with this slightly, but the only reason I'm fine with this is Bob is a freak conditioned athlete, maybe the best ever at the goalie position. And our sports science department is the top of the top . I still wouldn't bank on Bob being the same in 5 years, but in 3 years, maybe. Yes probably. We have an entire goalie excellence department. They have 3 years to find Bob's successor, or at least acquire enough quality prospects t o set us on the path for that, and I'm confident Lu will get it done. And how many Cups will we win in the next 3 years with Jones? Good chance at least one, if Barky, Chucky, Reino, Forsling stay healthy....and Samo becomes what we think he'll become. Zito will always find the foot soldiers .

yeah, i would suggest we don't have to look very far at all to find an example of a team who can't find that tender - the oilers. anyone think they wouldn't have a cup (or two) right now if we switched goalies?

also agree on bob and lou. seems there's a little more risk in letting knight go as he looks to be almost a sure-fire quality starter, but that's offset by solidifying the right side of the D for 4 years. plus jones' contract caps ek potential contract it would seem. if we end up with both those guys at <= 7, that's a net positive.

Yup Skinner was terrific for a couple rounds last year, but he had several off nights and that was enough to cost them the Cup. And that was with McDavid and Draisiatl at their peak and the best depth that team had in the Mc Jesus era, and the best special teams in the playoffs. Okay goalies can win a Cup, but it's very rare and won't really happen if the opposing team is a meat grinder like we were last year and the other goalie is in fact a star.

Yeah if we have that top 4 for another several years at 25M or under, that would be fantastic. We'd basically be a top 3 Cup favorite every year no matter what other teams do.

Checkers playing some good hockey of late, 8-2-0.
19-8-1-2 record in 30 games.
Nearly averaging 4 goals a game with 110 goals for and 82 against.

Points wise, the team is led by veterans so far. John Leonard (?) is leading the team in goals and points, 2nd in assists.
15 goals, 31 points in 30 games.

Bright spot looks to be Benning, only played 16 so far but 2 goals and 13 points. At 23 now, he should complete his 2nd full pro season with them and Charlotte looks to be a playoff team nearing half way point of season.

Looking forward to see if he can be a 3rd pairing guy (NHL) soon who develops into a great #4 Dman and PP contributor.

In net, Driedger is playing horrible right now, 3+ GAA and sub .900 sv%.
Ken Appleby (?) is posting really strong numbers in contrast, not sure where he came from, along with Leonard but the team is winning right now and tied for 2nd in their division.

Almost 2 months later, the Checkers are now 30-16-3-3 in 52 games and sit in a virtual tie with e teams for 2nd in division.
11-8-2-1 is a real big cool off from their hot start but they're 6-3-0-1 in the last 10 games.

Sourdif [14 g, 26 pts in 33 GP] and Benning [6g, 24 pts in 38 GP] continue to be the bright spots offensively, both are on NHL graduation watch and hope they both see 25-30 games next year in Florida

In net, Appleby and Black are still killing it.

KA: 12-7-1 with 2.00 GAA and .907 sv%
CB: 8-3-1 with 1.67 GAA and .922 sv%
