Ménage à tank?Let’s do crazy 3 team deal:
Kyrou —> Vancouver
Boesser —> Some third team who wants him
Us —> cap dump from third team, futures and prospects
Yep let's throw away the guy who leads the team in offense, has gotten better defensively, and has matured well over the past year for a bunch of random prospects and picksLet’s do crazy 3 team deal:

If we really want to blow it up, 2 ideas I had were Kyrou to Vancouver for Garland and Willander and Thomas to Seattle for Beniers and a couple of their better (but not Catton level) prospects (OFM, Sale, Rehkopf, etc..).Some thoughts in my head that haven't really been fleshed out.
How much does the increase in cap impact trade value of someone like Schenn? Someone that is playing well enough that teams would have interest in his current level, and will now have a cap that makes his hit a lot more manageable as he declines. I setting someone like Faulk aside because his current ability wouldn't have anyone interested. Would we even be interested in moving Schenn? Would Schenn even be interested in being moved. I gotta think there are some playoff teams. Jersey in particular makes a lot of sense as being at least interested in what Schenn currently is.
Is Army to the point where he'd want to make bigger moves as in Thomas or Kyrou, and what would those look like? With an increasing cap, their contracts provide tremendous value on top of what they currently are. What teams would be interested in them? Would Laferriere+Clarke tempt us or LA for Kyrou? Would a Beniers+(+) for Thomas tempt either side?
I do think we may have made a bit more of the comments after the Saad announcement, but as we know in sports, it's a deadline type of business. If Army/Steen isn't sold on Thomas or Kyrou, their value will likely never be higher as it is now.
The other question is in net. I really want Ellis to get some minutes to end the season. In 40 games the past 2 seasons, he has a .924 sv%. On some level, there's some similarities between his development and Binnington's last 2 AHL seasons in Providence and Springfield. where he was .926 and .927 in those seasons.
My expectation is still that we don't see anything crazy, Snuggerud signs when his season is up, and maybe we get some other call-ups at the end of the season and we explore moves in the summer.
I always really liked Beniers, so I'd actually be tempted to do something like that, but I'm pretty surprised he isn't producing more. I think any Thomas trade would need a high-end potential C in return that is slightly disappointing at the NHL level and is making their club impatient. Buffalo is another option, but I'd be more willing to take the risk with Beniers than Cozens. If we really want to blow it up, 2 ideas I had were Kyrou to Vancouver for Garland and Willander and Thomas to Seattle for Beniers and a couple of their better (but not Catton level) prospects (OFM, Sale, Rehkopf, etc..).
Vancouver wants to contend to convince Quinn Hughes to stay. They have resisted Willander to date, but this is for long term guy do they might be tempted.
And Seattle is supposedly getting impatient, and Thomas looks to be better than Beniers arbor 2 before their arcs cross. With Wright and Catton already there, thus gives them chance to speed up playoff window before city gets nba team and their fans lose interest.
I don’t know that I would really do either, but watching last few games I’m ready to blow it up.
Why are we trading our best forward this season who is in his prime for random futures and prospect. You don't even care what futures and prospects. It is clear from this you just want to get rid of Kyrou. Why? Also why include Vancouver and not just send Kyrou to that hypothetical 3rd team. Weird, weird trade proposal.
Oh, and no. Let's not do that.
Teams want the skater we don’t want to trade them. They don’t normally want the crappy ones. Vancouver may potentially make a mistake with brash action. I wouldn’t mind profiting from their impatience.
The concept is more based on Kyrou potentially being an asset they would want and less due to my preference. Our teams strategy would be to continue to pursue a rebuild.
When vancouver moved Miller they lost puck carrying and finishing.
They’re also likely losing Boeeser who represents a lot of shooting for their offense.
Kyrou as a skater fills those 3 voids very well. Would be a fit that makes sense and a trade they might pursue.
Boesser does not make as much sense for us but is the obvious cap casualty due to being a pending ufa at a time when their team is making drastic changes. I’m sure half of the contenders and half of the non contenders will be calling his agent if he hits ufa. Makes sense for one to rent him.
We tried to push this year and ended up getting shutout at home on a weekend and spiraling into a season long losing streak.
If we’re going to sit and watch the team get blown to bits before the first period is even over maybe it’s best to acknowledge that one path forward is to acquire elite talent, and the cost to do that will be elite talent. If Vancouver would be so kind as to hand over an outsized amount of future talent then nobody is untouchable to me. Tom Willander would be a nice addition to our Swedish mafia.
100% The team that gets the best player at the time of the deal, usually wins the trade. If we trade Kyrou for futures, I'd put money on none of those futures reaching the level of Jordan Kyrou. You are both undethinking it and overthinking it. It seems, from the Blues perspective to be a trade just to trade. You have not justified it at all from a Blues perspective. Sure we suck this year, but there is no justification that Kyrou is the piece to move. How bad will we be if we trade our leafding point scorer for a bunch of nothing? And you are not listing what these futures are, so that means they are a bunch of nothing. You sound like a Vancouver fan more than a Blues fan telling us all the reasons it makes sense from a Vancouver perspective, but not a Blues one.
We need to acquire elite talent by getting rid of elite talent? That seems like a wash at best. We trade for prospects who might be as good as Kyrou? Its quite possible we don't even break even. We would be paying an elite forward for a bunch of lottery tickets to maybe, but most likely not, win an elite forward.
I don't think we could move Buch if we wanted to. Who wants to take on an 8m player that is struggling signed through his probable decline.
