the quotes about him wanting the Cup again after tasting it are very accurate. he has to be frustrated not getting a playoff shot. I am more than happy to see him retire a Blue but really once he gets the record I am kind of expecting it. The reason is that teams around the league with contenders and shitty goaltending are too desperate not to make an offer we have to take. But it has to be an offer we have to take. Like a late first is not something we HAVE to take. An A prospect might be. It has to be a piece we know we can build around. The response could be, goalies don't fetch that. But if even one contender can see the gamer that we see in Binnington they might be willing to pay it. He is a known quantity in a sea of guesswork at that position and there are a lot of have-nots
Would Colorado be able to offer a package that would get it done? They are the first team that comes to mind when it comes to shit goaltending sinking a team expected to contend, needing an upgrade.
The playoff likely teams I view as needing a goalie upgrade:
Colorado
Carolina
Edmonton
LA? Kuemper hurt + mixed results to date
Utah? Bubble team, do they buy?
All other playoff likely teams have their guy, except Toronto and Washington. Stolarz has looked good in Toronto and Thompson looks good in Washington.
Would Philly pay for a guy to platoon with Ersson and risking alienating Kolosov?
Would Seattle, Detroit, Pittsburgh or Montreal bother to add a goalie now with the other problems their teams have presently? The timing doesn't make sense to me, but I'm not the one under pressure to show improvements in the standings.
