Stating the obvious here, but the Panthers really needed that game and let it get away. I figured SMU was going to pull it out, even down 2-0 after 40….but having the GWG goal in OT waved off and then having the Huskies bank one in off the defenseman’s skate for the winner is brutal. Fully expect this series to get wrapped up on Friday.

When you are the underdog you need to win those games. I'd be surprised to see a game 3 as well.

If you were to give SMU one of the Moncton goalies they would be the clear number 2 team in the AUS.

Second that...expecting SMU to close things out on Friday as well

On the UPEI side, I'm not convinced this formula they have going works. Apart from some bad puck luck in G1, there's not a whole lot of regular season Ws to show for and certainly not much to speak of come playoff time (unless you count their QF win vs Calgary in 23). At the end of last season I would've said that this years Panthers team could've been a true middle of the pack that was competitive for 3rd place, just not seeing it with where we're at.

We'll see what happens Friday! AUS is a strange beast

Missed the first period but for the most part I didn’t think X had a lot of jump. Didn’t feel like a playoff game. Small crowd may have been due to people staying home to watch the Four Nations

Went to the SMU UPEI game last night on the Island

From start to finish it was SMU all the way. UPEI never had any sustained pressure or extended momentum. No surprise with the result

Funny enough at the 1st intermission I was talking with a fellow who said he has been a season ticket holder there for close to 30 years now and that he's only missed a handful of games over the years. I asked him what keeps him coming back. Apart from the quality of the AUS he said that it reminds him of his youth and how that back in the day seeing a Panthers game was the hottest ticket in town. Thought that was rather frightening compared to last night considering the amount of empty seats and how the crowd seemed like they were at a funeral!!

It’s crazy that for all the people who showed up to nationals , seemingly no one got hooked . I can’t think of a league I’d rather watch night in and night out in person , including the NHL/AHL with all the 3 in 4 nights etc.
