An upset on a smaller scale but UPEI beat SMU 3-1. Outshout them as well.
Panthers have now won three in a row while the Huskies have dropped two

Anyone know if Dal goaltender Nicholas Chenard is injured. He played a lot for them last season but hasn’t suited up yet. Still listed on the roster. The Tigers are a team that needs three starting goalies.

Yes,he went off in a preseason game with what looked to be a leg or groin.

Moncton shutout UPEI last night 3-0. It was a penalty filled game. According to the AUS boxscore the Panthers went 0-16 on the power play!

STFX over SMU 4-3 in overtime. The Huskies have lost four in a row. They get to host Dal tonight so that steak will be broken

That's partly due to me not being there, and also partly Presto being stupid with penalties. The actualy #'s are 0/7 UPEI and 1/6 Moncton.

DAL @ SMU - Not a bad game up to the 3rd period when DAL took a Fighting Major and SMU scored twice on the 5-4 and once again on a 5-3.

On a positive note, DAL kept the shots against to 44.

West started for SMU with Grimes in the backup role. Sumarah has not played well his past 3 outings. I expect to see him back in on Friday for UNB.

I know it's early but SMU needs a good recruiting year next fall when they host in 2026.

Not too often you see a fighting major with only one participant. I went on the archives to watch it. Straight right from Martini on Macdonald. It wouldn't surprise me if he gets more than two games.

Speaking of 2026, is Gentile eligible next season?

He's on the program as year 4 and doing MBA, so probably. Same for Wainman. Thompson is the only 5th year. They have 9 4th year guys. Not all of them will be around for a 5th. They'll have several slots to fill. Don't know if Sumarah will be there for his 5th. That will mean a rookie goalie unless they can get Richard to transfer. Not often you see a team hosting with a lot of rookies. Both ACA and UPEI had that problem because of Covid cancellation.

Further to this, how come only SMU and UPEI have the year in their lineup on the AUS site. The other 5 teams don't. I think that should be a requirement.

It'll be two games, it's Martini's 1st fight of the season...one game for the fight and one game for the instigator. Unless SMU applies for a video review for some other violation, ya can't just start adding suspension games on a whim.

The reason I think it may be more than 2 games is because he punched a defenseless players in the face.

That would be why Martini got the instigator penalty, which gets him the 2nd game of suspension
Item (iii) of the Instigator rule

If the violence was crazy, over the top by one player on another who was not in compliance to fighting, there could be a match penalty called for attempt to injure, which could up a possible suspension, but that wasn't called here on this sequence. One punch and SMU player went down.
