Probably 2 for the cross check and then there was a super secret probationary 1 game for the elbow on Johansson that got activated3 games holy shit. was not expecting that
It's good reading, no denying that.Time to lurk that McDavid thread now
Oh what a delicious schadenfreude sundae. A lot of whataboutwhatabouts and all the ways McDavid should take his revenge on the league by not being media available or skipping 4 Nations. That'll show...Canada.It's good reading, no denying that.
I agree with the punishment but I also find it laughable that McDavid is 197th in penalties drawn in the league.I love it when people claim shit like "mcdavid was just sending a message to the league"
No he f***ing wasnt. He got angry and did something stupid. It's not like he was in the middle of the melee and thought "you know what, this is silly, this has to stop in the league, but the refs and the NHL are not doing anything about it, so I as the face of the league need to show them it has to stop. What could I do to make them realize it has to stop? Should I fight? Should I push back? Should I punch the guy? I think the best course of action is a cross check to the face that should get noticed by the league to affect real change"
If he did do it to send a message then it's premeditated and should be a heftier suspension.
Let's not be idiots to satisfy our biases. He did a stupid thing and received a rightful punishment for it.
For me the sport gets to be a lot less fun when we're looking up stats like this. I am sure the guys drawing the most penalties are the guys who also take a lot of penalties and who play a hard style and/or get in the dirty areas by the net. I don't know how many players there are in the NHL who qualify for this list nor what the criteria are, but it seems like there's got to be some nuance missing for him to be 197th, because that seems silly in a vaccum.I agree with the punishment but I also find it laughable that McDavid is 197th in penalties drawn in the league.
Best players in the NBA get the foul calls. Best players in the NFL get the penalty calls. Best players in the NHL?
Lol. Play through it you bum.
Since the 2021-2022 season, McDavid is 1st overall in penelties drawn. Seems like thsi year is more of an outlier than anything.I agree with the punishment but I also find it laughable that McDavid is 197th in penalties drawn in the league.

There's a difference. People want legit stuff to be called, not penalties to be gifted.Funny people cry about protecting the stars but what Mahomes got away with last week made the NFL a clownshow.
I mean, the NFL is willing the Chiefs to nearly every win this year. I still think people that are hockey fans need to really go over and look and see who is drawing penalties and re-evaluate this whole "protecting the stars" argument.Funny people cry about protecting the stars but what Mahomes got away with last week made the NFL a clownshow.
I'd be curious to dig into this more. I don't watch Edmonton often enough to know. But just because he's the best player in the world it doesn't seem to me that that should or would correlate to the most penalties drawn. Maybe he tries to stay on his feet more and doesn't flop. Maybe he's better at avoiding contact that would result in a called penalty. It doesn't make sense that the league would target McDavid personally.I also find it laughable that McDavid is 197th in penalties drawn in the league.

I looked at the stats myself, and it seems like a really weird stat to quote. Rempe tops the league? Greer, MacDermid, Givani Smith are in the top 10.
Draisaitl is 129th. MacKinnon 257th.
Edit:
Looking at penalties drawn since 2015 season looks more reasonable.

And net penalties (drawn-taken):

Doesn't seem like he's getting mistreated at all.
