Jets up 1-0 after 40.

DeMelo nice wrister high glove on tiny Saros.

Helly coming up big for the Jets, Preds are giving them problems on the forecheck. Not so much on puck retrievals but actually picking off passes or stopping the Jets forward after the first breakout pass.

Unlike us, the Jets breakout traditionally with at least one forward low on the hook for a short outlet pass. Preds are doing a good job closing them down after the first pass.

Preds also creating some East-West chances in the Jets zone, Jets aren’t picking up the cross ice pass to the 3rd forward. Stamkos and Marchy have created two or three chances off those plays.

Helly is really solid, though.

We can take these guys tomorrow with Comrie in goal.

It's a complete clusterf***. They have a #1d, #G, good prospects. Good luck building on that. As a Rangers fan, It's bad
Kind of funny, they got screwed over by their own positives. Landing Panarin, Trocheck, and Fox just because they are "New York" took them out of their rebuld early before they had a chance to draft an elite center. Now they are kind of f***ed.

Preds isn't that huge a surprise imo.
In hindsight it's easy to see why it's not working.

However, if we'd have made a poll at the beginning of the season not many people would have predicted it.

The biggest surprise in the league this year is Washington. I say Rags are #2, Preds #3 and Jets #4.

Edit: more than a few experts had the Preds winning the Central:

Edit 2: f*** Friedman for predicting Quinn Hughes to win the Hart and Norris.

I kind of wondered if they weren't going to live up to the hype but I did not expect them to be at the very bottom of the league, especially with their goaltending.
I didn't think they'd be bottom of the league. But I figured they'd be in that kind of no mans, wasteland where they aren't bad but not a playoff team. I know everyone got all excited about adding Stamkos and Marchy, but they just added some older goal scorers who don't drive play well and ignored their biggest problem position, which is C(granted that's always been their issue). You aren't going to be a good team if your 1C is a 33 year old ROR who's then followed up by Tommy Novak and Michael McCarron.

Yeah, it's so on brand for the preds to have ROR as their 1C at this stage in his career. He's David Legwand reincarnate

I mean even before hindsight it was very easy to see it not working. I'm sure the hype would've had most people putting them in a playoff spot, but their forward construction is awful.

Their C core doesn't scare me. ROR is still decent, but is also at an age where he's gonna fall off a cliff pretty heavily, Novak is decent but still not a plus 2C, Sissons is just not a good 3C and McCarron is also pretty meh 4C. Definitely have some pieces for the future but idk I'm not entirely worried about them yet.
Hell here's my take on them in August.

I kinda wish they were in the mushy middle rather than the absolute bottom because they might actually get a really good player out of this failure at the draft.

Hopefully ownership there gives Trotz the green light to make a really, really dumb trade or two in some vain attempt to save the season.

I mean based on all of Trotz interviews and stuff he's still going for it this year. Hopefully he does in fact make a big trade to try and make a miracle run at the playoffs.

For all of you with a goalie mask fetish; Logan Thompson's rocking a pretty sweet one for the Caps. Also; I really like that Caps logo with the eagle and stars.

Oh that is kinda nice.

Dude’s name is Dave but he’s not DaveArt. Apparently made Avalanche lids for both Miner and (Jussi Parkkila’s favorite protégé) Prosvetov.
