How many athletes supported the Iraq invasion? Did you denounce them all?
It's not even remotely the same thing. One of these is a European, western country. The other one isn't. I'm sure you also mourn the passing of some random dudes on the other side of the world the same as you do your relatives?

The world isn't a fair, equal place. Ukraine is not the same as Iraq, or Palestine.

Yes I keep forgetting that white Europeans are more valuable than the brown people that we've be bombing over the last 2 decades. Thanks for reminding me.

Maybe it's just me but I value lives the same no matter where they are from or what their skin color is. Maybe that's just me though...

Make America Great Again..

Yeah, that's worse.. Opposite sides often spin shit right into the toilet.
Thanks for proving my point

One country was liberated from a Dictator, the other is being invaded by a Dictator.

It's that simple..

I don't remember hunting civilians and blowing up hospitals when I was in Iraq. I did rebuild some schools, markets, and help multiple communities stand up militia to fight off terrorists that were being trained by Iranian Special Forces.

It's just you. Like I said, you probably are more concerned about the life of your relatives than the random ass people on the other side of the town?

Europe is culturally, politically and economically more connected to the US than the Middle-East. That is a fact, not an opinion, and it has nothing to do with race or language. Japan and South-Korea are also more important to the US and Europe in this regard than Russia for an example. Arguably Japan and ROK are more important to the US than South-American countries.

Man let's just stop here. We are going wayyyyy offtopic here.

Oh so those million cilivian casualties are no big deal right? We went in there under false pretenses. You are lying to yourself if you think we're the good guys here

Last I checked I'm not related to any Ukrainians or Iraqis. What Russia is going is evil. Our policy in the middle east is evil. Call a spade a spade and just own it.

There's no good policy towards the middle east. If you leave them alone it's really bad, if you go there it's also really bad. Look at what happened to Afghanistan as soon as we got out of there. What a f***ing shithole.

Of course, but it's not our job to drone strike hospitals and weddings. We are not the moral or world police. Our foreign policy relating to the middle east going back to the mess we caused with Iran caused so much destabilizition that we have ruined and killed millions and millions of lives, and we'll never know how far into the future the issues we've caused are going to go. But no big deal because they aren't white Europeans I guess.

Agreed

Interestingly enough training Afghan fighters was way easier than Iraqis. Their motivation was on a whole other level, and didn't require money to make an effort.

That country just has chaos and war in its blood. Their fighters are impressive and relentless once convinced of a cause.

I got to hear many stories from guys who fought off the Russians.

I'm more sympathetic to your viewpoint than most here (probably) and I understand why you feel as strongly as this since you live in a country that borders Russia, and I understand the point you're making, but you're completely undermining yourself by trivialising one while complaining about the other. And you seem pretty naive about American foreign policy.

Is everyone looking forward to Military Appreciation Night next week?

This conversation just proves how f***ed up the propaganda really is lol.

If you don't want to believe a narrative, just go find another because it's all out there. Just pick the flavor of kool-aid you want to drown yourself in while ignoring reality being somewhere in between.
Every political argument:

Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Jordan, Oman seem plenty fine.

Look at the war torn countries. Then look at who has consistently invaded/bombed/sanctioned them. You'll see the pattern.

I wouldn't call women having zero rights being "fine", but we all have our standards. They are fine in a sense that they are not trying to blow themselves or us up I guess.

Go look at what Iran looked like before we got involved. And even after killing millions and then abandoning them they still don't have rights, so... mission accomplished?

If you disregard most basic human rights then sure, fine countries.
Almost like propaganda works or something.

I'm sure the seemingly endless school shootings and incredibly high crime rates and rampant homelessness in North America are prime selling points for the West, too?

I love how all of these issues are lumped together.

No one is going to snatch up a woman and stone her to death for not wearing a face cover, or shoot your daughter because you educated her here.

People in North America have so little perspective on how truly bad normal life can be in the world.

Few people who shit on Western countries while living in them would survive a week in a third world country.
