6-0 Dallas after one. The Pens didn't show up at all.

I've been watching this game and it's been hilarious.

Dallas not even playing that well. It's just everything they're doing results in a goal and the Pens are not defending whatsoever. The Stars are making 1 or 2 passes and going on breakaways or wide open shots in front of the goalie.

Crosby has already taken a penalty out of frustration; roughing after hitting a guy three times in a row while down on the ice lol

Crosby staying there is pretty amazing loyalty. It's really obvious it's a dead team.

That's the most goals the penguins have allowed in a first period EVER!! Which is pretty surprising because they were really bad in the early 80s before Lemieux.

Are they really going to let him the simmer until Crosby retires, and then actually let him rebuild that team?

What if Crosby decides he can play 5 more years? He still looks like a pretty valuable player lol.
I think that's the plan. Sucks for the fans.

The Penguins are in rough shape because they should have retooled 2-4 seasons ago around the same time Caps knew they had to make a change. Retooling now makes no sense to me, like the owners are finally going to decide to retool for 2-3 seasons wasting whatever talent is left of that core? It seems dumb to me, and the owners are responsible, not Dubas who is also a fool in some of the moves he has made. Fenway wants to keep the team a playoff club, they want to keep Sullivan who has clearly lost the lockerroom, and they want to keep most of the core players even though Jarry should have been launched to the Moon and Letang traded to Montreal.

3 consecutive mistakes: re-upped Letang, re-upped Malkin, traded for Karlsson.

At the time of the signing Letang just had a fantastic season for a guy that age, it was obvious that it wouldn't happen again and shouldn't get a contract based on that season. Same with trading for Karlsson, he just won the Norris, everyone knew it wasn't happening again and he had this huge contract with term left.

They doubled down on old guys when they absolutely didn't have to.

That's gonna be us in the future. It takes a very cutthroat GM to tell your franchise star players to frick off.

They were getting ready to retool, then the new ownership came in and abruptly forced them to change plans. Doesn’t excuse the bad moves made since then but I don’t think there’s anything that could’ve been done to prevent their decline (though the Caps are kinda proving me wrong there).

I just looked and their draft pick situation is fairly good TBH.

Perhaps Dubas plans to organically tank with Crosby, Malkin, Karlsson, Letang, Rust, Rackell and Graves on the payroll.

But if that's the plan then why the Graves contract?

Ownership forced it. They got rid of a guy because he wanted to move on from Malkin. So… they kinda had to as the owners forced the decision.
