Jets are 11-1, and appear to be a wagon. 12 points ahead of the Avs, who currently set 7th in the division behind the likes of Chicago, St. Louis, and Utah. 8 points back of 2nd place Minnihaha. Division already feels out of reach. Another disastrous couple weeks, and they could be permanently in WC contention the rest of the season.

The Avs are a wagon too pulled by a bunch of donkeys.

Well, Boston ain't what they used to be either.

Speaking of the B's, not sure what Monty's tryin' to do but I don't think it's a good idea to so publicly rake your two best players over the coals.
Nothing a little home cooking can’t fix. I think Boston ends up fine. Swayman wasn’t himself to start but without looking at the numbers seems to be settling in now.

I didn't like their offseason, they went and got Elias Lindholm to be their top line center when he's kinda proven he isn't top line center. Also, age seems to FINALLY be catching up with them, especially Marchand. Their elite goalie tandem bailed their asses out a lot last year, and half that tandem is now gone. Swayman may end up being the best goalie in the league but I don't think even he can singlehandedly make up for a lineup that boasts a 2nd line of Zacha-Coyle-Brazeau.

Monty's approach appears to be putting even more pressure on his top guys to deliver, I'm not so sure that's a good idea.

Imagine if Bednar had the balls to do this to Mikko
I don't think that was helpful for the Bruins, and I don't think it'd be helpful for the Avs either.

Mikko's overall play isn't annoying me, it's the fact that he's shooting with the accuracy of a Cobra trooper from the old G.I. Joe cartoons. I don't think benching him would do any good.

Hey, at least Pasta took accountability after the game because of it. That'd be nice for once. A bit of self-reflection can certainly be helpful.

He said all the right things, I don't necessarily think he believed it. I won't be surprised in the least if Montgomery gets the axe during the season if things don't turn around fast.

Pasta doing stupid shit with the puck is nothing new. You just kinda gotta live with the occasional lazy play or brain-dead mistake because of how insanely good he is at putting the puck in the net. Monty clearly has little patience for it, past B's coaches were mostly okay with it because Pasta was normally paired with two elite two-way forwards who almost never lost the puck.

Benching star players is either done from a position of desperation, or when you are clearly in the superior position to the star player. Montgomery is in the former, a guy like Berube is on the latter (should he choose to do it). Bednar isn't on either. Bednar isn't in danger of losing his job, but taking a hard stance on his star players would not bode well for him either from the POV of the players, fans or the FO.

Your description of Pasta is sounding eerily familiar...
