In-n-Out is the only place that is open late though. That already gets major brownie points.

Double double animal style is pretty awesome. Strictly in the fast food sense, I just don't think anything touches Shake Shack. It was said on a youtube video years ago and I can't remember exactly where... but In n Out is fast food done well, Shake Shack is fancy food made fast.

My personal rankings are probably something like this for burgers only:

Shake Shack
In n Out (Animal Style)
Culver's
Freddie's
Del Taco
Five Guys
In n Out (standard)
Whataburger
Runza
Fatburger
McDonald's
Steak n Shake
Wendy's
Checker's
Sonic
White Castle

If you're digging for chains below those... just go get something else. Culver's or Del Taco probably have the best overall menus (Runza gives a run here too). Whataburger probably has the best fries (though McDonald's and Five Guys have their place). Shake Shack has the best shakes. Best desserts goes to Culver's though (the concrete mixers are better than any Blizzard). Freddie's is a very specific type of burger that deserves love (very thin and crispy edges). White Castle is about the ultimate burger when you're browned out.
I admit I haven't had at least 30-40% of this list, but Steak n Shake is a lot better than being that low based on my history. Not sure if it changed since then.

Also, Five Blokes is much better than Freddie's, but this might be a location issue.

In n Out is also not insanely priced. Incredibly good for similar (or less) than other major chains like Wendy's/McDonald's/Carl's Jr. They don't have the Five Guys/Shake Shack thing where they are nearing $16-18 for a simple burger combo. Culver's and Del Taco have that too. Now Del Taco you can get a Double Del and get carne asada fries as your side... there's not many places that have a better setup than that.

Steak n Shake used to be a lot better. I feel their quality has gone way down hill now.

This is all preference, but of any of that group... Freddie's probably the most widely varied. The burgers super thin with crispy edges and most places don't smash their burgers nearly that much. Then the shoestring fries are one of those hit or miss with most people too. It probably helps they have the fry sauce and spicy version too. Fry sauce is the best.

I don't really consider Five Guys as fast food. There is no drive thru, you have to park and go inside to order, and it takes several minutes to get your food after you order.

Their burgers and fries are the bomb, though. Worth it to go in and get it. But to me, they are more liken to a SmashBurger, or Red Robin

Culver's and Runza are definitely winners. In-N-Out was pretty good the last time I had it in Vegas but I really don't want to wait that long in line for a friggin' burger.
Yeah that's probably my biggest gripe with it. I have to wait in a drive-through for 30-40 minutes to get a burger I don't even like that much? I'd much rather have Freddy's. They have good fries too

This is fair and I’d never wait that long. Not when options close to as good are near instantaneous.

No wienerschnitzel fan here?
Their burgers are like Dairy Queen.

Arguably the worst food I have ever eaten came from a White Castle in NYC. Holy that was a revolting experience.

Last time I ate White Castle I was on a road trip with friends and I am meek soul, didn't want to impose, but I made them take the nearest gas station stop so I could shit myself.

Five guys fries are the reason I don't go to Five Guys. Mid at best, and their small option is a full bag of shit fries. Give me a smaller option where I'm not paying 5 dollars for fries.

I just can't bring myself to do fast food if there is any type of a greasy spoon restaurant around instead.

Why settle for a cheeseburger when you could have chicken fried steak and eggs?

The sens are running circles around the blues though two periods. 6-0 27-13 shots on goal
The Sens have all the makings of a really good team. And contrary to popular belief I don’t think they have a bad coach. Now we’ll see if they put it together. I certainly think they will before Buffalo does.
