2024/2025 Around the League

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.

Here's what happened (stealing it from another board):

Makes it even more bullshit then.

At the time he was really well thought of, scouts thought he’d be a dominant defensive dman, there were a bunch of reports praising his leadership and skating. Turns out scouts are bad at their jobs some times.
Siemens was actually a good skater for his size, and was by all accounts a really great locker room presence everywhere he went. His problem was just that he had flat zero puck skills. Even as a shutdown defenseman, you need to be able to make a basic breakout pass from your zone, and it says a lot that Anton Lindholm handled the puck with more alacrity at the NHL level.

Interesting to see that regardless of whether he's a better or worse GM than Dubas, Brad Treliving might have done the one thing his predecessor never quite did in Toronto--he got the goaltending right. At least for now.
