There was a time when Florida was a no-go for a lot of players. They were totally irrelevant, even in the days they had a still-productive Pavel Bure. Goes to show you what a GM who doesn't suck can do to turn your fortunes around.Toronto is only attractive if you grew up in Ontario. It's just that a lot of players grew up in Ontario.
You won't find a lot of players from the US, Europe, or other provinces like QC, BC or AB that dream of playing for the Leafs.
The real attractive markets are Vegas, Florida, Tampa, NYR.
IMO, Tampa was like that too.
