Just watching the ceremony now....it is really great seeing all the old guys and a lot of great moments I just wish our games ops wasn't so awful. Just completely incapable of letting any moment breath without blasting some shitty pop song behind to drown out the crowd lol
Great ceremony. But wow, it was very Torontoesque.

Another day, another loss where the offence just doesn't get it done. Our pitching has to allow less than 3 runs a game every game in order for us to have a chance of winning. There are so many players underperforming that it's no wonder the offence isn't reaching expectations.

Most point to hitting with RISP but the number of players on this team with an average to below average OPS shines a clear light on why people say this offence is putrid, underwhelming, pathetic, {add derogatory adjective}, etc. Too many of our starters are not near their career OPS

Vladdy Career .846 2023 .778
Springer .839 .724
Kirk .759 .686
Varsho .707 .634

Our irregulars have terrible OPS and not even to their career avg.

Biggio .685
Espinal .624
DeJong .118
Lukes .596

Belt, Chapman, Jansen have a good OPS but flaws in other parts like SO%.

There are obviously other stats contributing to their lack of offensive consistency. But it's not just their hitting with RISP as many see as their only problem offensively.

Idk personally I'd replace Shatkins with Alex Anthopoulos, but I guess that's off the table.

I suppose I'd prefer a competent GM that know how to draft and develop players, and can sign them to team friendly contracts
Overall, they have done a good job. They turned the team around quickly, more involved in the free agent market, IFA market, and built a high-end development site. The team could get rid of them and easily bring in people who are worse.

The problem with this year, a number of hitters are having down years. Personally, I would have changed the hitting coaches before the All-Star break because it seems something isn't working.

If the team misses the playoffs, James Click is in the organization and he could be given a larger role or even replace Atkins. Shapiro would stay.

I don't see a problem with Mark Shapiro. He's done a good job of being a good head of the franchise and has facilitated some real nice improvement to the ball park, which are not yet complete. And he has gotten the ownership to spend - something which was painfully an issue in the Godfrey & Beeston years since Rogers has owned the Jays. People are still coming to games and the attendance is good, I believe I heard recently 3rd in the AL.

The fault lies more with Ross Atkins and the management of the minor leagues as well, where they haven't scouted and developed good homegrown talent so there is depth. It was painfully obvious when they sent down Manoah the first time, they had no reliable starting pitcher in the minors to fill in.

Jays really need to figure out how to cash in with the offense. Seattle after today have a very easy schedule and will likely pass the jays and not look back.

Agreed. Overall, I think they have done a decent job with the position players but the pitching has been lacking. There seems to be some improvement with it at the lower levels, especially with bullpen arms. My other concern is Atkins, seems to be too patient at times with keeping players and managers.

I am always cautious about firing someone. Is there someone else available who's better? A painful example is Gillis with the Canucks. Smart guy but he got fired and replaced with a complete moron who ran the team into the ground for 8+ years.

Jays have James Click waiting in the wings:

I have my own opinions of Atkins and am indifferent if the team moves on from him, but there is someone in house who is qualified. Whether they are “better” or not is to be seen.

Definitely. I have mentioned Click in previous posts as a potential replacement.
