You can't expect logic out of this new poster who very obviously isn't anyone we know given that they have a new name and no avatar. This new person is clearly inexperienced and doesn't know the ways of these threads having never been here before.

Not sure he's performed to the level that he was hyped to before he hit the majors, that is not his fault, no one could reach the level of hype he received. He's had one elite year at the plate and a few OK years but has not become not that perennial elite player. His base running this year has been atrocious. Some metrics since his 48 HR year, in that year his out of zone swing was 24.5%, this year he's swinging at 30.4% out of zone. His BA is noticeably down when compared to his best year 2021. His exit velo, xwOBA, xBA, xSLG, Barrel % are all among the top 2%, his problem is the lack of discipline at the plate, when he came up he was hyped to have a great eye, that is not evident this year.

This pearl clutching a bit silly? Isn't their record better this year at the same number of games compared to last year? They will find their game and go on a big streak. They always do.

The league adapted to him but he’s never really had to learn to adapt himself.

Who is the reporter/stats nerd that follows MiLB prospect that got ragged on here for predicting he’d turn out to be about what he has turned out to be?

The league adapted to him but he’s never really had to learn to adapt himself.

It's a matter of him letting the pitches out of the strike zone go, when compared to the rest of the league there is a clearly an outside the strike zone swing issue. He's like his father there is never a pitch he wont swing at and because his swing metrics (exit velo, are top 2% of the league, he can often get away with poor plate discipline.

This is not the Vladdy that we were told we were going to get, we were told this kid has great plate discipline, this year he does not. When he expands the strike zone, he gives a couple of inches up, down, outside and inside that allows MLB pitchers to be less precise and gives the pitchers more freedom to attack Vladdy.

Who?

I think if he become more disciplined at the plate, his numbers will sky rocket. The physical tools are all there, the question is can he become a more patient hitter?

You’re watching the worst offense in baseball against left handed pitching. Absolute joke.

How do people still have jobs around here. Pathetic

I don’t remember his name but they dragged him through mud for years on here for not anointing them as the best prospects in history.

2 hits in 15 innings this weekend. And both were by Merrifield.

Absolutely f***ing pathetic.

Shutout by Red Sox, Shutout by Marlins, Shutout by Tigers, Shutout by Giants, took 11 innings to score a run against White Sox, currently being shutout again by Tigers... This team is brutal, oh and how bad they are with RISP, just brutal.

Yeah someone else got a hit lol

This team will go down to the wire. Will either make or miss the playoffs as a wildcard on one of the last days of the season.

If they make it, they will get swept in the first round or go on a run to at least the ALCS. No in between.

It’s clear now that Atkins has built an incomplete Frankenstein of a team. He took its greatest strength from previous years, the offense, and turned that into something middling. He also has this annoying tendency to go halfway on major parts of the roster, such as the starting pitching, which results in the team being extremely mid all the way through.

He’s basically JP Ricciardi with a better inherited core of players.

He expected some players to maintain or be better than last years numbers. Unfortunately, Kirk, Espinal, Biggio, Jansen, Vladdy, and Varsho have had below-expected numbers,

Well he took the gamble and it was wrong. This teams offence is pathetic. No consistency game to game.

Varsho is not that much below what you should expect from him. Atkins certainly expected him to keep progressing when he made the trade but considering his age it was far from certain to happen. Maybe it's just a bad season but offensively speaking he's nothing special so far. A good depth player but certainly not one that should bat top 6.
