Pitching has really carried the team during this good 2-week stretch. Averaging only 3.78 runs scored since that first game at Minnesota, but team ERA is under 3

Hopefully the offense breaks out soon.

Varsho really struggles against high velo

Like alot of times he looks so overmatched. I expected more. And regarding his arm. I thought he had a really strong arm but I don’t think so.

Belt has been great lately. I don't see anything wrong with him. Vladdy starts going Plakata for a prolonged stretch and the offence suddenly looks a lot better. Springer has been back to being Springer lately, Merrifield is hitting close to .300 and steals bases, Chapman has been Chapman (still leads the AL in doubles) streaky, Kirk has been heating up, KK has been awesome, BO is near MVP level. I am just trying to look at it from a positive angle.

Varsho is a perfectly serviceable bottom-half-of-the-order guy. He's been warming up the last couple of weeks and is up above league average offensively speaking (by wRC+). It was dumb when he was hitting 4th and 5th, but as a 6/7 hitter with Kirk he should be right where he needs to be.

Also it's funny how down people are on Vladdy when he's still by many measures a top 10ish 1B in the league. "bad" Vladdy is still better than 2/3rds of guys at his position. He should be and is capable of a lot more, but it's not like he's out there weighing the team down like an anchor.

Not a good matchup for the jays today. But you never know what will happen. Last night was a disappointment. Had the game but couldnt bring it over the finish line. But im a sucker for punishment so will watch this game.

If things go well (say, they get 6 innings out of Richards/Francis) then I would agree. But if one of those guys struggles and they only get 4 innings out of them or something, I think having a guys better suited to go multiple innings will be important.

He's been huge for them. He showed enough his first year here that I didn't hate having him as a low-leverage guy this year, but I definitely didn't expect him to be this good.

Richards and Francis for Rowdy looks pretty good right now.
