It was a risky series of offseason moves to begin with. I posted that several times at the time. I’m not sure why Atkins continues to get the benefit of the doubt when he hasn’t really proven himself to be worthy of such benefit.

I don’t think any of the off-season moves were risky at all. Most of the underachievers are from last years roster.

He completely overhauled the off field makeup of the roster.

Trading that much for Varsho was a risk.

Banking on Belt to replace and add to the offense was risky.

Even Bassitt was risky.

I don’t have an issue with trading Teo, he was clearly on the decline.

The issue is not adding significantly to the offense after trading him.

I think we'd take his 15HR/46RBI this year at halfway point of the season. He'd be 1st in HR, 2nd in RBI, and add the all important element of protection for Vladdy in the lineup. Something he's clearly lacked all season.

Yeah it's not the 2021 season numbers, but ALL of the Jays numbers were inflated by playing in Dunedin/Buffalo for 2/3rd of the season.

I actually like that trade. Swanson has been pretty good for us. But you can’t keep trading away bats and not replacing them, and that’s not even considering they probably needed to ADD contact ability/run producing to the offense from last year.
