Belt certainly looks much improved over the guy who looked finished in the first couple weeks of the season.

Can’t help thinking that the best-case here is still only 2017-18 Kendrys Morales, though.

Personally, I would have been ok with Morales if he made less money and was only signed for one year and could play an adequate 1B and was only expected to be the 7th or 8th best hitter in the lineup and could be platooned to play to his strengths more.

Varsho somehow on pace for a 4.5 bWAR season. I thought he was playing bad but has a .703 OPS. Solid

That's the value of players like him and to a lesser extent, KK.

Even if you can get league average hitting from guys like that it's still a massive win given the value they provide on the defensive side. Varsho thus far has largely been as advertised. Not the best hitter but will give you pop alongside gold glove level defense.

Not a great start under the hood for Kikuchi (only 6 swinging strikes, lots of stuff left in the zone) but somehow he leaves the game spotless.

Gotta love that.

Sure am glad we didn't DFA Belt two weeks into the season like some arm chair GM's wanted lol
He was reallllly bad early on but after the KC series you could start to see everything slowly fall into place. First thing was his eye. Stopped swinging at absolute junk and then his bat slowly picked up speed.

Even the best of the best will look clueless once and a while.

He's still trash though so whatever /s

Yep not a smart decision. The bullpen was not taxed this series. should have let someone else work the 8th.

He's had 5 starts with 1 ER or less. I wouldn't have guessed that after last year.

I'm not sure what the hell happened since my SN app told me the game was over and switched me to a replay of this game...

I come back to see this shit? the hell happened?

Bullpen nonsense strikes again though. Garcia who was nothing but reliable last year is now suddenly crapping himself in even lower leverage situations.
