Another power tripping ump
Even if Belt was still complaining, he was doing it with his head down as he walked back to the dugout. The interaction is over at that point. But the ump decided to follow him for a bit and toss him.

That's the kind of situation where the league needs to step in and do something. There's no way umps should get away with that crap.

If Reynolds is worse batting right handed …why not bat left?
Because it's really hard to give up switch hitting when you've done it your whole career. Completely screws with your approach essentially learning to hit against the same handed pitcher all over again. ball comes in looking different, you have to move your hands differently, etc.

Very few guys have done it and succeeded. Cedric Mullins was a full time switch hitter until 2021 where he elected to hit from his left. The result was a huge 30 HR breakout season resulting in his first all-star appearance. These are rare occurrences.

Mickey Mantle once considered giving it up at one point due to iirc problems with one of his shoulders but elected to keep doing so because of the advantage. Aaron Hicks ditched switch hitting, sucked, switched back and...still sucked.

It's largely a gimmick since there's very few guys in today's league who can do it well to the point it's a weapon (Jose Ramirez comes to mind) but at the same time it's hard to just...stop.

Cole can't throw his slider for shit all game and for some reason he goes to it with two on and no outs.

Makes sense to me.

It’s amazing that Belt’s K% is double the MLB average but he still has .300 on base percentage.

The good thing is between Varsho and Belt, both of them have good walk rates. Once the hits come (especially extra base hits), they will easily be 110 OPS+ guys
