I would have preferred the rays for that same reason. Beat up lineup although still good and the trop but still. I’d be more comfortable against them

Ok, and how does that negatively affect them? You can't be complaining about swing and miss issues since they're one of the best in the league there, and they're top 10 in OBP and AVG. And it's not like trying to be Babe Ruth makes them chase balls out of the zone since there are only two teams who do it less.

So... how does this "trying to be Babe Ruth" thing hurt them?

Considering there was a more than 20 year spell of not making the postseason, might as well appreciate these opportunities when they come.

What has this team done this year to suggest they rise to the occasion when it's big game time? It was a rhetorical question because we all know the answer is not a damn thing..

I would cite examples but you'll just ignore them. They are a better team then you think they are, and the offense has severally under achieved this year.

Twins are a good team, but they faced only two playoff teams in September. One two-game series against the Rays, in which they won one game and lost the other. The other series was against the Rangers.

Interestingly enough, for all the talk of Minnesota's offense, the Jays scored more runs on the road this year (7th most in the league) than Minnesota scored at home.

It sure seems like the renovations had a huge impact on making the offense look bad (and probably on making the pitching staff look better than they are) because they sure didn't have any issues scoring when they left Dome.

If I'm reading the standings right, only Seattle's loss last night got the Jays in the playoffs. Had they won that game (and swept the Rangers), the Jays would have been out. Can anyone confirm?

Yes but…
If Seattle won last night Toronto would have had a very different lineup today and may have won. And if Toronto won they would have been in the playoffs no matter what Seattle did today

Because every team in baseball does it. It’s tradition at this point.

During game 2 of the Astros Dbacks series both teams did it the same night because both teams clinched. The team that won and the team that lost. Both in their locker rooms at the same time

Also just as a note they may have won the last playoff spot but they have a better record than the team they will be facing and if it was to there advantage to win today they may have tried to win and not ended up in the last spot

I am not saying they don’t deserve it, just strange that they celebrated like they won something. Which is weird.
