I’m guessing the WC series will be Kikuchi/Gausman, Gausman/Kikuchi, Bassit. People have mentioned Ryu… I have a hard time believing you can trust Ryu in a possible do or die game
I think they go Gausman, Bassitt, Berrios, with Kikuchi ready to come in and give them multiple innings if needed.

Personally, I go with the flex option

Gausman starts game 1

Game 2 is Berrios if the Jays win game 1 and Bassitt if the Jays lose game 1, with the other lined up for game 3.

A Jays win and loss by Houston or Seattle and they’re in. Magic number is 2 this weekend. Hopefully no drama and we get the win tonight and one of those teams lose. I don’t want another last day of the year heart break
Tonight, a Jays win and a Seattle loss means the Jays clinch.

Tonight, should the Jays Win, Seattle Win but Houston loses, the Jays would not clinch yet. This is because a 4-team tie could still happen (Texas, Seattle, Houston, Toronto), and the Jays would be the team OUT in this scenario.

I like this option. And if the Jays make it and play Tampa, most of their best hitters are now right handed with Franco gone and one of the Lowes hurt. So to start 3 righties and have 3 lefties with velo out of the pen in Mayza, Cabrera and Kikuchi would be key in the middle of the game to turn around some of their batters or sub in righties only for us to bring in Romano, Swanson, and Hicks later on.

IMO Bassitt is more reliable than Berrios.

He’s generally either really good or 3 ER level. Berrios gets blown up every few starts and if it happens to be that start in a playoff series you’ve essentially just thrown away a game.

I really hate the idea of different game 2/3 starters based on the result of game 1. I know the difference between Berrios and Bassitt is pretty minor, but if you think one gives you a better chance of winning, he's your game 2 starter.

If they win game 1, I want them to go into game 2 intent on burying them, not using it as an opportunity to set up their rotation for the next round knowing that they have a mulligan in game 3 if they come up short.

Would love to not get completely blown in off the get go in game 1 again. Luckily Manoah ate so much Mary Brown’s chicken he’s off the roster this time around. So deflating when you’re hyped up for a big playoff run and you’re starter gives up 5-6 runs in the 1st inning

I think a game 3 would have to be a flex game. You literally gotta go inning by inning. In a must win game you can’t worry about how your pitching staff and BP are going to look in the ALDS
