Yeah they’ve struggled all year. They should definitely just relinquish that wildcard spot to a team that… struggled more???

It's really mind numbing, isn't it?

Imagine logging on every day to shit on your playoff position team to then turn around and try to hype up a team that has been dead last in this division for virtually the entire season. wAtCh oUt foR thE yAnKeeS!

Well it was great that they came back from giving up the tying run, god damn Devers.

But still, I think its the most offensively disappointing sweep, because they could not get much of anything going during the 3 games, not counting the game winners in extra innings.

Well, the out of town scoreboard is looking good, Texas lost, hopefully Mariners lose too.

Again because they have shown all year to struggle, just ignore that stuff because hey they're in a WC spot, whatever if you don't like it don't respond to it, it's pretty simple.

I care about whether the strengths/weaknesses of this team will allow it to get over the line vs. Houston/Texas/Seattle. I'm not ignoring anything that actually matters,

I'm not dwelling on what the totally irrelevant Yankees do and getting bent out-of-shape about virtually impossible scenarios just because I like being mad.

As I said earlier, I simply don't understand sports fandom in 2023.

It seems like either you're blessed with a generationally dominant team or if not you just piss and moan about everything every step of the way and be thoroughly miserable and take no joy from things whatsoever.

Like, the whole point of following sports should be that it's fun and enjoyable. This season has been a rollercoaster but holy f***. It's one of the 3 or 4 best Jays teams in the last 30 years, and it seems like half the fanbase has hated every minute of it. And actually would be happier to see the team fail because it justifies all the hate they've been spewing all year.

7-5 against the Yanks and Rays gets them to 90 wins. Just got bear down and do it. They just gotta not shit the bed and go 5-7.
90 wins might not do it, because they don't have a tiebreaker against the two most likely teams they will be fighting for the last spot. I dont see Houston falling out.

@MS how do you feel about Cavan Biggio suddenly being good and a huge reason this team is in a good position to make the playoffs? I find it hilarious.

Remember that those AL West teams are playing each other. Someone is guaranteed to lose. I think 90 wins does it. I don't think that all 3 teams will have 90 or more.

Like Buck said this team can't compete against the good teams, they win majority of their games against sub .500 teams, and even those wins are closer then they should be, even this series they struggled to beat the Sox. The Rays and Yanks aren't going to lay down for the Jays, they'll be playing the Jays tough, better hope they can hit in those series or it could be trouble.

Jays dont need anyone crapping on them, they crap on themselves with this 2023 team.

From 1994 to 2014 we had no playoffs.

Since then we had 4 appearances in 8 years. With this year we could have 5 in 9 years with a 91 win team in 2021 missing the playoffs. Just take it and enjoy the ride.

I wish this 2023 offense played better and we are in the mix for the division but that isnt the case. Had no playoffs for 20 years. Even if its a first round exit, im not turning my nose up at it. Ill take any playoff appearance to see what happens.

Some people would rather rebuild than be in a WC race. This isn’t the “real” postseason. As terrible of a feeling as it was to drop 4 to Texas, seeing the Jays sweep Boston and have all of the teams around them drop their series feels just. This and the NL wildcard races are exactly what you want to see from the sport.

Watch out for the Yankees, who lost to the Pirates.
...Again. The Jays and Yankees play each other 6 times in the last 12 games of the season. So that alone gives them a chance and it means that they're not out of it. What part of that statement are you not understanding?

Now. Realistically. Will the Yankees run the table and go 6-0 in those games? Probably not. It's very unlikely. But this Jays team has been an enigma all year. You never know what you're going to get with them. So you can't rule anything out completely.
