I was hoping gor Smith personally cause i knew we would not pick Michkov. I'm kind of disapointed by Reinbacher but he was probably my 2nd choice after Smith. Obviously my first choice was Michkov. Anyway nobody will be able to say "hindsight" if Michkov becomes a 40-80 players and Reinbacher a 30 points two way dman playing on a 2nd pairing.

And this is why tanking harder was so important.

Not ending up with one of Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson/Smith/Michkov is absolutely brutal.

We had the 5th spot and a shot at the 2nd most talented player in the draft.

The 'tanking' part was fine. But it only works if you draft the elite talent that's ACTUALLY AVAILABLE when you're drafting 5th.

Again, I hope Reddenbocker or whatever is a great player. Maybe he will be. But right now I feel like we missed out on a franchise forward. One we've needed forever. Not only that, but knowing who we picked, I'd have prefered the trade with Nashville. I think that would've been better than what we got.

Anyways, I'm the wrong guy to really be saying this. I haven't seen this kid play at all. So maybe it'll be a great move for us.

But I'd really have liked us to take Michkov.
