Assume you’re going to have like at least 5-10 minutes of broadcast intros and preamble then a commercial. I‘d guess Bedard will be announced 12-15 minutes in.
Thanks. So the broadcast isn't scheduled so that we have like half an hour of pre-draft analysis by Craig Button and Bobby Margaritas and a long ass Bettman speech before pick #1? I can live with 15 minutes of intro.

Now that I think more is it possible trading the picks for Newhook could be a sign we're trading down with philly for 7/22+? Maybe the scouting staff feel the depth is in the first two thirds of the first round.
If Montreal has Leonard and Benson close they probably do it. I would ask for Hart in trade also. Making it 7+22+Hart for 5. Lopsided but Briere is rookie GM, may want to make splash with the potential star in Michkov.

I still want Michkov. 3 years will give us time to surround him with some more size. All this talk that Newhook makes us smaller and there fore we can't draft Michkov is dumb. Michkov has 3 more years. Team will be different then!

But.....I have a feeling that Carlsson may be there. Fantilli to the Ducks. Smith to the Jackets. Michkov at 4 (possible trade down for San Jose). Leaving us Carlsson. Can't wait for tonight! 12.5 hours to go!

Molson is still President. Gorton is V.P..
Yes he is but it just appears he’s less involved now in the day-to-day and not that he’s not involved at all.

Good luck to them, what will be, will be.

I wouldn't mind this scenario one bit.

Basically, to move back two spots in the Top-10, they end up moving up 9 spots in the later part of the 1st. (from having the 31st OA to having 22nd OA)

Before the trade yesterday, they were picking 5th + 31st in the first round. In this hypothetical trade with Philly, they have 7th + 22nd.

Here's another scenario after trading down to 7th with Philly. Make two more moves:

Caps call and say they want the 7th OA (because just maybe Michkov is still on the board), so you move back to 8th and pick up their 40th OA pick. Then St. Louis calls and asks to move up to 8th and offer up one of their other 1sts (they have 25th & 29th). They're the only team with three 1st round picks.

So in the end:

Trade #1
To PHI: 5th OA
to MTL: 7th OA+ 22nd OA

Trade #2
to WSH: 7th OA
to MTL: 8th OA + 40th OA

Trade #3
to STL: 8th OA
to MTL: 10th OA + 25th OA

So MTL ends up picking 10th + 22nd + 25th + 40th. So in my little dreamland scenario, Habs end up picking 3 times in the 1st round while still picking Top-10 and their 2nd round pick only moves back 3 spots. (37th to 40th)

I'll go have my coffee now.

Unlikely, they traded the other two because they had contract issues

So how does Hughes get us the goalie he was planning on taking 2nd roundish? Someone else moved for a pick or part of a trade down. Hart/Cossa/Askarov

Considering what they've done so far, I think they would be looking for players/prospect instead of picks....or both.

Jordan Harris + 5th overall pick for 7th + 22nd and Carter Hart and it's a deal!

No offense meant to him as a player, but the most broad best case scenario for the draft is Will Smith being taken in the top-4.

That leaves one of Michkov, Carlsson, Fantilli available at 5. Even if the Habs are against taking Michkov (boooo) you at least have the door open to trade down to 7th or 8th with him still on the board.

So yeah, crossing my fingers for an early Smith trip to the stage.

Picks 31 and 37 weren't going to be anywhere close enough to move up from 5 to 2
Regardless, I'm expecting we move from 5 to 7 tomorrow night unless by miracle Carlsson drops to 5
No they weren’t but could have been part of the package. Also, didn’t think it was likely anyway.
