Seems we’ve had an unusually small amount of official recruiting announcements from teams thus far given where we are in the offseason. Off the top of my head, there hasn’t been anything yet from SMU, UPEI, Alberta, Calgary, and Mount Royal. Saskatchewan and UBC have announced a few guys.

EDIT - spelling

Feels weird Trevor Wong never got drafted or a serious pro look.. 106 points and team captain..

I mean, good for the huskies, Sask and Alberta need bounce back years. Programs have been decent, but not dominant like the last 15-20 years. UBC and Calgary have improved to their level now. good for entertainment overall.

Odd....I thought I saw a posting "somewhere" this afternoon that former Acadie-Bathurst Titan Robert Orr is heading to PEI. Now I can't find it anywhere. So let's call it a rumor.
You were on to something. Orr is listed on the Panthers roster for tonight’s game, at least according to the Live Stats.

A SMU recruit snuck in under the radar - D-Man Will Thompson, 5 years in the Q, 3 at SFX and 1 in France. Not a big point getter, but a big hitter. I saw him play Friday against Waterloo and he made a few solid hits. Him and Wainman could find a spot on the roster with their defensive play.

From UPEI Xwitter:

Panthers add firepower in forward ROBERT "BOBBY" ORR
"I'm very excited to join this team. We're a young group with lots of talent, and I think we'll surprise a lot of people this year and in years to come." – Bobby Orr

Looks like Miron, Guilbault, Lanoue, Couture and Ethier
Miron - 0-2-2 in 11 GP
Lanoue - 0-0-0 in 5 GP
Guilbault - 4-8-12 in 28 GP
Coutire - 4-2-6 in 23 GP
Ethier 7 GP as the backup goalie

So didn't really lose too much + brought in a couple good recruits + have to think they will get more than 10 GP out of Cyr this season. Moncton should be a strong contender for a spot at Nationals again this year.

Alberta announces recruiting class. One significant name missing - defenceman Parker Berge, who is still at the Ontario Reign’s (AHL) training camp.

However, it does sound like forward Brett Hyland will begin the season with the Bears.

EDIT - Hyland is indeed in Alberta’s lineup tonight for their season opener. Berge has signed an AHL deal.
