So Danton is going to completely change his game, play with grit and determination, play physical, hit along the boards and stand up for his teammates and himself? Sign me up for the new Danton Heinen, the old one can go play for the Laval Rocket, no wait, I like Laval and that isn't fair to them. Let's put him in the LNAH, not as tough as it used to be but would be fun seeing him try to survive there. I hear St. Georges is lovely in January.
Thank you very much!

For a team coming off the All Time best season and a young top 5 overall foundation that’s a pretty good group they are sending to Buffalo

They got an easy half dozen NHL regulars in that group and 3 or 4 top 9 F top 4 D

Congrats D&D staff

5 to 7% of golfers play golf lefthanded. Of those, how many do you think are considered "right handed" in everything else? And 5-7% is way higher compared to the percentage of professional golfers are lefthanded versus play once in a charity scramble every year.
You called it "extremely rare". Then I point out golfers, including me, off the top of my head. Others come in and start pointing out themselves and friends that are the same.

It is rare. Not extremely rare.

Agreed, just to add some more anecdotal evidence, I golf with 6 people regularly. 4 of them are right handed and golf/play hockey lefty.

I mean I guess that’s semantics. 5-7% left handed golfers comes from the golf industry - not anecdotal evidence. If half of left handed golfers are right handed (which is probably high) that’s 3% of all golfers. If you played 100 rounds of golf with three random people joining you, 9 out of 300 would be lefty golfers and righthanded people. Maybe extremely gets softened to “very” in that situation?

I know I've spoke of this before but I'd love to see one day a player who shoots RH/LH based on the situation. If I was fringe prospect, I think I'd like to think I'd practice that - any edge I could get to make it to the pros, I'd be all over.
Players spend their entire lives getting pro level stick skills with only one handedness. I don’t think a player could conceivably have pro level stick skills while splitting that practice time 50/50.

I'll see if I can help swing this back to training camp stuff.

Here are the guys I'm keeping an eye on for training camp and rookie camp in no particular order:

Morgan Geekie - He was a guy I wanted to the Bruins to sign. I always liked his game whenever he would play Boston and it felt like he could be a guy who could take his game to the next level if put int he right situation

Jakub Lauko - I've been on the Lauko training for a long time. I have high hopes for Lauko and think he could be a consistent 30pt guy that can provide a spark when needed.

John Beecher - We've seen his comps be a Kuraly type of guy. I'd like to see some youth infused into the line-up and some of these guys we've drafted start to crack the NHL line-up.

Georgi Merkulov - I honestly have seen him play much, but people whose opinion I respect are high on him.

Matthew Poitras - This is the kid that is my new "binky" and has the best chance of becoming a top 6 player for us. I have no expectation of him making the NHL roster this year, but I'm curious to see how he looks against similar aged players in the prospect challenge

Brett Harrison - I like his size and ability to put pucks in the net. In a dream world Harrison and Poitras reach/exceed their potential and are the future 1/2 centers for the Bruins.

Mason Lohrei - He got a taste of pro hockey last year and it gave him a bit of a measuring stick to see what he needed to work on during the off-season. I'm interested to see how he looks after a full off-season of training for pro hockey. Grz, Forbort & Zboril are all UFA's after this season and Lohrei will likely be a guy that they look to fill one of those spots.

Pavel Zacha - Can he continue to build off of last season and become the player many thought he was destined to be when he was drafted?

Trent Frederic - Similar to Zacha, can he build off of a solid season last year without having Coyle & Hall on his line?

logged in to see what hand everyone hits a golf club with ... but since we're not allowed to talk about that anymore

whats the likelyhood that we consolidate some skill and throw marchand with zacha and pasta? thatd be a pretty sick line - maybe even a real deal first line depending on zacha's performance

I can't imagine that line not being good enough for the first like title. Bring Riley Nash back pop him between Marchand and Pasta, you still have a first line there. I'd rather Zacha and Pasta play together and that DeBrusk play with Marchand.

But if some kid came to camp and forced his way into the top 6 I would consider a second line of DeBrusk - Coyle - Hotshot kid

Run it for 10 games if the results are good let it roll otherwise we need the depth of separating Pasta from Marchand and DeBrusk.

I though I read somewhere that Beecher is a bust. Sounds like the staff has a different opinion than the some HF posters.

How about this:

Don't totally trust the source, but heard John McLean will be the new eye in the sky assistant coach.
Trust whoever told you it’s correct - I was over at Warrior 3 weeks ago ran into one of the coaches (he looks like he could still play) and I asked him who’s taking over for Gruden and he said McLean, and did a wonderful job explaining him to me.

He also at times could be on the bench but basically upstairs as you indicated

He’s local and an incredible HS coach who’s won a handful of Super 8’s

He’s not the Devils McLean but former BC captain and assistant coach - and power skating guru

When I was at DC with @Saxon Eric we were wondering who the heck are all these guys coaching out there - it was McLean, Tom Ford, and Dave Breen. They are listed as skating & skills consultants but apparently will be around and definitely McLean lol

Yes, I am well aware of all that.

But less than two weeks ago he accepted a coaching job with the Islanders in the Eastern Hockey Federation's prep school league.

Can he teach skills and skating with the Bruins while coaching prep school? Certainly he can because he did so last season with Austin Prep (USHS) while with the Bruins.

But as an assistant coach, can he go on extended road trips and still coach his prep school? I only question it because a) the source hasn't always been right and b) the coaching job McLean just accepted.

Seems like Pittsburgh and New Jersey will stream their games from Prospects Challenge. Bruins meet Pittsburgh Fri Sep 15, then meet Montreal on Sat Sep 16 and last game on Mon Sep 18 vs New Jersey.
