Bedard whipping ass aside, it's really gratifying to see the speed/compete vision for the team's future start to take shape. Blues were outclassed badly in all three zones, which you would expect given the Blackhawks' tanking and resulting prospect depth, but fun to watch the sheer speed and energy that these kids have.

Kaiser really impressed me. High end skater.

Can you really say that with Ovi still playing?

Ovi? Matthews is ahead of him now. Possibly McDavid too. At this point, Bedard is Top 5 for sure. We’ll have to see at the end of the season where he ranks in the Top 5. Too early to say yet.

Kaiser looked real good, strong, steady and rushed the puck more than Korchinski. Didn't know he had wheels like that

Bedard is obviously just waiting to play NHL games at this point

If Dach's size and board game translate to the NHL he could be a really good asset

Lardis quiet today other than assist

Some good bursts of real speed from Ludwinski. Savoie is scrappy as hell. Didn't notice Hayes much.

Bedard did a thing. I see. Blues fans are salty AF, which pleases me.

Bedard is going to make a lot of players a shot ton of money in his career, including himself.

How did Korchinski look?

I can buy top 5 but I'm not ready to say he has a better shot than a bunch of proven NHL goal scorers until he plays a full season.

OK - I'm going to put my Debbie Downer hat on for just a minute and then I'll take it off and leave it off - promise.

First, the Blues played last night so there may have been some fatigue on their part which may have contributed to the very noticeable disparity in team speed.

Second, their best goalie played last night so the Hawks got their 2nd and 3rd goalies.

Third, yes we didn't have Nazar, Moore and a couple other guys - but they didn't have 4 of their top 7 or 8 prospects.

Given that the Hawks will be playing tomorrow afternoon with their 2nd goalie and potentially with some fatigue - let's see how they look against the Wild tomorrow before get too carried away after one prospect game.

OK - the Debbie Downer hat has been flung off and now it's time to revel in the happiness of the start of the Bedard era.

Don't mean to come off disrespectful but have you ever played? There's guys that can just power it past guys and there's guys like Sakic and Semin that have filthy absurd shots that are pure release. Bedard is that guy. Matthews is like Ovi. Giant monsters that blast it past guys. Bedard can move left unleash a rocket bar down that nobody can stop. Ovi and Matthews may be better shooters but Bedard's release is something else.

The most impressive part about Matthews’ shot is his release. He’s the only guy in the game right now that might have a better one than Bedard

Just a fan here, never played hockey.

No doubt. It's tremendous. But he's got five inches and thirty pounds on Bedard. It should be. It's pure athleticism.

Bedard is a total freak. He's not the physical specimen that Ovechkin or Matthews is. That's why I brought up Sakic and Semin. Those three can fire absolute piss missiles despite their size. Bossy comparisons are fair.

Ovechkin is the greatest goal scorer I've ever seen. He turned from Pavel Bure his first seven years in the league into a pretty stationary howitzer his last seven years in the league and is scoring at the same exact pace. He's a total freak. He's scoring at .61 gpg from 19-27 as he is from 31-38. That doesn't happen. It's why he might break Gretzky's record. He's an absolute anomaly. It's not a slight towards Matthews. He's had wrist issues and has missed more games to injury than Ovi has despite being a decade younger. Both are incredible talents.

I'm not pumping Bedard's tires before he's entered the league because I'm a homer. He's just that gifted a talent. It's absurd what he can do with the puck on his stick. He drops his shoulder releases a rocket and it's a goal. Crosby was a physical freak. He saw the ice different. Bedard can score at an all time level. His release is absurd. He's not just an incredible prospect. He's special.

Obviously Bedard, Kaiser, Korchinski and Commesso were the standouts but I thought Colton Dach had a really good game. Physical, shoots it from anywhere and was always around the net. He is the total opposite of his brother with his game play. Not as talented a player as Kirby, but a guy you win with.

I thought Misiak was also very good. he won't dazzle you with skill but his game is simple. Physical, north-south skating and doesnt take a shift off. Savoie being Savoie out there but his offensive game has come a long way. So underrated. Had alot of great passes to set up teammates

And I'll name a guy who isn't a top prospect at all but thought was very steady out there too. Louis Crevier.

Dach had a really good training camp last year too. I’d have him playing some games this year if the roster wasn’t already full. But no harm going down to Rockford to refine his game some more.
