GDT: 2023 Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase

This camp was just a snapshot to see where the players may be. They are not finished products. None of them are. KK probably needs another year in Seattle and a year or two in Rockford unless he all the sudden gets it. No need to hurry him of judge him 12 months into his career.
Especially when there are several other prospect d-men who are further along their development curve and should get NHL time to show what they can do. At the end of the day - unless KK looks amazing in pre-season and shows he's able to compete physically - at most he should get 9 games and then go back to the Dub to dominate and develop.

So when somebody here was calling Allen a bust right after he was drafted, many here were agreeing with him.

But now calling a 19 year old a bust is wrong?

You all played yourselves.

Just IMO - there is a fundamental difference between not liking a particular draft pick because there were more well regarded prospects available at that pick, and calling a guy a bust at 19YO.

Hopefully, by the time Allan becomes a Blackhawk regular, folks will spell his name right. :) However, I'm not sure when that day will come after what I saw in the TK tourney. Yes, it was a summertime exhibition of only 2 games and all the players were rusty but I was expecting Allan to be better at this stage. Maybe I'm too hasty and/or expecting too much but he still gets himself out of position too often, either by going for an ill-advised hit or by just getting a bit lost in his own end. Hopefully, it was just rust but Luke may need to take this guy under his wing to allow him to reach his potential. My hope remains that Allan becomes a mainstay on Hawks blueline.

Allan arguably the most hated pick in the Stan era so of course he will become a Hammer prototype and solid top 4 defenseman

Are you confusing overdrafting to bust? Prospects are overdrafted all the time. Bowman did it all the time. If people guaranteed they were busts before even playing in the AHL, I'm sure most posters would call them out as well. If you're questioning mgmt for overdrafting a prospect especially if a consensus stronger prospect was available, that's fair game. That's calling out mgmt., not calling the player a bust.

For example, from what I saw on the Rinzel thread ... I think the board was in agreement we reached. However, I don't think anyone is calling him a bust yet. We all acknowledge he needs a lot more time to develop.

Regarding Allan ... what are posters saying now? I don't see anyone calling him a guaranteed bust. I saw posters say he still needs to develop his game. Will his physical game translate in the NHL? We don't know.

Most prospects don't succeed in the NHL. We all know that. However, how do you call a 19 year old an automatic bust before he plays his first AHL game? At least give him a chance to develop.

OK.... credit where credit is due. I expressed my doubts that the Hawks org would bother to stream any of this tourney. Good on them for providing that to us die-hards. Here's hoping that continues.

The games were so sloppy it's really hard to critique Dmen in their own zone when every shift is a curve ball. I doubt Korchinski makes all those gaffes or loses players near his net that often in general, but his breakouts were great. I also thought Del Mastro stood out for being solid all over the ice despite the circumstances, he could be ready to be eased into the league.

This is true but I understand that 55 and 42 are regular blueline partners in junior. Not that they were terrible, however I did expect the tandem to be better.

Idk but at least right now......Korchinski might be a Barrie/Gostisbehere type. Great on offense, liability in his own zone. He still has plenty of time to develop a defensive game.
