Allan has looked the best of the D to my untrained eyes - love the fight he had
Kaiser was our best D but he only played a game. Allan and Del Mastro look like bottom-pairing/PK guys if they make it. Allan just doesn’t move or handle the puck well enough to play up in the lineup. Same for Del Mastro. They can still be useful players though.

Give the young defenseman 2 to 3 years in the AHL before completely passing judgment on them.

It looked like Hawks list their legs Fter the 1st period and Minn was rested and had the energy...they dominated us from 2nd period on...
A lot of bad checking by tgexHawjs and sone miscues.. Korchinski fid not pjay well.but hecwssnit the only one..Hawks forwards not dangerous after 1st period and were watching and cruising on cueing assignments chasing faster skating Minn players...again maybevtge fatigue factor...but really dominated by tge Rikey Heidt line and no line forvtye Hawks shone or was together lije that Heodt line..Weekes was not very goid but team I front of hom let him down giving Monn roo many gpod scpring chances..

From what I saw...Bedardxand Kaiser are ready to take spots I the Show...thevrest of them are not...

lol...I thought Kaiser was a winger with the amount of times he wheeled into the Blues zone...

Right on

Who’s “completely passing judgement” on anyone? That’s what they look like today. Maybe they’ll improve — they probably will. It’s not like the rebuild hinges on Del Mastro and Allan popping. They can be useful players. I just don’t see top-4 guys playing 20 minutes a night when I watch them.

my quick thoughts from this meaningless tourney:

great: Bedard. Insane. Even better than I thought. Pencil him in for 40+ goals. Kaiser looks NHL ready and I wouldn't be surprised if he were a top 4 D by season's end. He's always been steady defensively but he's much faster than I knew and isn't shy to try and create offense

good: Misiak was real good today I thought. Great pace, intensity and does good things with the puck even though he isnt super skilled. Could be our 3C for years to come, maybe some top 6 upside if he really develops well. Lardis had a couple nice snapshots and zone entries. He isnt super impactful outside of that so far tho (yet). Dach again seems on track to being like an Adam Lowry-type. Allan has a lot of NHL tools (size, smooth skating, mean streak, fearlessness) and even though his skill level will probably prevent him from becoming a legit top4 D he will probably have an impact at the next level (josh manson?)

disappointing: Okay listen. The standard for KK is naturally going to be higher because of his draft slot and the fact that we traded away our best trade asset to acquire the pick so I know im a bit biased. We really need him to hit and become top pairing, high end offensive dma. Korchinski did make some nice plays offensively today. He moves the puck quickly and efficiently in the offensive zone and picked up a couple of helpers. BUT he is just sooooo soft. He's 6'3 but Bedard probably weighs more than him. His skating is more awkward than I realized. His feet move at a million miles an hour but it's not efficient. He lacks acceleration so he gets beat to pucks quite a bit. He lacks lower body strength (it seems at least) so his patented cut back move doesn't seem to create as much separation as it does at the WHL level. Some bad turnovers today and he doesn't seem to have the athletic tools to compensate. His shot presents zero threat on the power play. He could still be a good offensive specialist but he needs to put on like 20 pounds, work on his explosiveness and his defensive game and compete level need to go wayyyyy up if he is ever going to become a top pair guy.

Also, Hayes seem very vanilla to me, screams AHL scorer.

Otherwise, everyone else was fine/met expectations or just probably isn't going to be an NHLer so not worth really commenting on.

Looking forward to training camp when my assessment gets shit on

Korchinski isn't going to be anything but the second coming of Gus.

We already went thru the exaggerated potential limit breaks with young players here and every time I was right.

Many here said Boqvist was a top pairing guy. I said he wasn't good.

Is the guy even in the NHL any more?

Same with Dach. Who isn't anything but a 30 point third liner and many here were comparing him to Getzlaf. Seider is an actual top pairing guy.

And people really think all these draft picks Davidson has accumulated are going to be nhlers?

Remember, young DMen take time to develop ... especially the ones with size. Most likely, it will be the 3rd year of their ELC before we can make a knowledgeable assessment.

Regarding Bedard, the goalie barely reacted on every one of his goals. Connor's shot is obviously fast and heavy ... but goalies might have a hard time picking it up.

Scott Steven's needed time to develop?
Niedermayer was what, 19 when he was an impact player in the nhl?

Great players are great players.

Hell, Seth Jones was playing on the second pairing at 19 on a stacked defensive corps. You know, the guy who's getting bumped down a pair for the fresh, new Guschinski....

I just call it like I see it.

The Hawks have one obvious elite talent and a bunch of meh. Most of these guys ain't making the nhl and I'm not trying to make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

Scrolling thru some threads here there's ppl who have Korchinski on the first pair over Seth Jones. You know, an established NHL first pairing guy who eats a ton of minutes.

My analysis is a tiny bit more realistic.

I like what I've seen from Allan and Marcel. Landis has potential. Same with Comesso. That's about it (not including Bedard, obviously).

Thankfully these kids have time. They are years away from the NHL if they ever make it at all and there's alot of development that needs to happen.
I've been watching KHL games the last couple weeks and I can tell you Roman Kantserov has looked good. Is he ready for the NHL starting next year no but he has grit and gumption to fight for loose pucks especially in the Offensive Zone

I thought Korchinski was quite good aside from a couple of misplays today. He needs to keep adding bulk but I didn't see a soft player, he made a lot of nice breakout plays under pressure and separated guys from pucks on several occasions. Bit of a choppy stride but still very mobile for his size

The Hawks already have alot of the "grit and gumpton" types. Kantersov needs to do that AND score to be an nhl player.

Just saw this in the prospects boards. New angle shows how insane his shot is.
