2023 Tank Thread (Mod post Page 60)

Since it seems the Ducks will likely finish bottom 5 this year, I figured we should have a thread for discussing the implications of where the f***s will finish in the standings. As well as what factors could affect where they finish.

Tonight was interesting as all bottom 5 teams earned 2 points sans the Ducks and the Hawks.

Hey Folks,

Want to clear some of the air here, Tank talk is not an issue, please talk tank to your heart’s content here, totally understand how critical it is for that Future Potential Top pick. The issue is posting in the GDT, like you want the team to lose or make posts that you are angry they are winning or won the game, or bashing the team for not tanking.

The main reason is, to respect your fellow members. The GDT is about discussion of the game on a live basis and then post game discussion and opinions. A lot of fans are not rooting for the team to lose, and everyone has their views and opinions towards tanking, and may not want to discuss tanking in the GDT

If you guys have any concerns, feel free to PM me or another mod, and would be happy to explain more in detail.

We've currently played 1 more game than the other 3, but they all play tonight, so we'll get a nice overall picture after tonight, 5 games from the EOS.

Not holding my breath for any of the other teams earning points tonight, they're facing tough teams. If they get any points, will view it as a bonus

The Athletic also has their tank thread articles ongoing. Here's an interesting tidbit from today's article:

The Blackhawks have gone 3-11-1 with a .233 points percentage in their 15 games since the deadline. Their 2.26 goals per 60 minutes have largely factored into their demise. The only other team with a points percentage worse than .300 since the deadline is the Anaheim Ducks, who have a .267 points percentage.​

Verbeek did his job. Who knew that losing Klingberg and Kulikov would have such an impact? Of course, Rico's been missing since before the TDL and hasn't been back on the ice. Then there's the recent Terry absence due to potential birthing.

LOL, yeah GDT's have been a little light but we've been trying to accommodate everyone and keep things civil. Once the last game is done with, will move discussions to the draft thread.

Also, if anyone wants to post a Playoff bandwagon discussion thread, have at it.

A good idea in theory but I think the bad teams would just be perennially buried because the bubble teams would have superior records year after year.

Imagine the Panthers landing Bedard right now. Wow.

You couldn't do it straight like that, because the crappy teams would always be below the better teams.

But if you did something like... the best odds go to the teams with the most points once they're mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, it could work. The better teams would be eliminated late, so wouldn't be able to rack up many points. And the worst teams would be eliminated early, giving them the chance to pick up more points.

But even that has its flaws and could be ripe for abuse, too, depending on how much you think teams intentionally tank.

Damn, 70 degrees is nice (being from Mass) - we had such bad weather lately up here
