Since it seems the Ducks will likely finish bottom 5 this year, I figured we should have a thread for discussing the implications of where the f***s will finish in the standings. As well as what factors could affect where they finish.

Tonight was interesting as all bottom 5 teams earned 2 points sans the Ducks and the Hawks.

Hey Folks,

Want to clear some of the air here, Tank talk is not an issue, please talk tank to your heart’s content here, totally understand how critical it is for that Future Potential Top pick. The issue is posting in the GDT, like you want the team to lose or make posts that you are angry they are winning or won the game, or bashing the team for not tanking.

The main reason is, to respect your fellow members. The GDT is about discussion of the game on a live basis and then post game discussion and opinions. A lot of fans are not rooting for the team to lose, and everyone has their views and opinions towards tanking, and may not want to discuss tanking in the GDT

If you guys have any concerns, feel free to PM me or another mod, and would be happy to explain more in detail.

Which they deserved. Deliberate tanking like AZ (and us, this year) deserves to be discouraged that way.

This team tries they just don’t have the roster to win. They need to have an almost near perfect game to even have a chance.

Kane showcasing himself to the Rangers has helped with the Ducks tank. Whatever side comes out of this debacle I feel like I’m winning on both sides here lol.

Now if we could only motivate the other Patrick in some way lol.

I dunno if we were deliberately tanking from the start because at the quarter mark Verbeek believed the team would be close to or at .500. One thing out of Verbeek's control was the loss of PP coach Geoff Ward over the summer. Ward left the team for personal reasons. Who knew he was the mastermind behind the PP success of 2021-22?

Once the season panned out the way it did, Verbeek hasn't done anything to improve the situation. That part is deliberate, but Anaheim would need a significant amount of talent acquired to stop the hemorrhaging that probably couldn't be gathered up during the season.

Verbeek maybe tanking, but Eakins is trying his best to make his team overachieve. Only 7 regulation wins, own the worst goals allowed record, own the 2nd worst goals for record, and some fans are still scared the Ducks will go on a winning streak to get knocked out of the top-4.

Wow, good thing we have Eakins coaching the boys up or Ducks might really be bad.

Also, it's not like we had the opportunity to be good and burned it down for a chance to land Bedard.

A blip? We went from finishing 2nd in 2020-21 to holding onto 3rd place in the Pacific at All-star/Olympic break the next year without adding any outside talent. And we had a top-5 farm team at that time. Verbeek took over the Ducks during all-star break. Anaheim just needed more talent depth to continue it's progress to being in playoff contention the following season, if that's the route Verbeek intended to go, but he didn't.

I don't think some fans realize how much talent was lost at last year's TDL and the roster turnover since. We were so good before Verbeek that after Verbeek blew up the team at the TDL, we still finished with the 10th worst record. Now, we are looking at the worst record in the league on so many different levels.

We were dealing with a lot of injuries during the 2020-21 COVID season. Lindholm played in only 18 games, Manson played in 23 games, and both played on the same ice for 2 full games.

2021-22 season saw young stars emerge in Terry, Zegras, and Lundy while Drysdale lasted the whole season. Lindholm played in 61 out of 63 games before being traded. Manson got 45 games in.

Our roster today is far worse than COVID season. Rebuild teams who added top talents outside of their org to become playoff contenders: 2021-22 Kings, 2022-23 Devils, and 2022-23 Kraken. It's facetious to say we didn't have an opportunity to be good.

Just give it up already. I'm not advocating for Eakins' return, but I am advocating for properly identifying the biggest factor for this year's failure. Still have no idea why you are so hung up on Eakins to be oblivious to the roster failure.
