Since it seems the Ducks will likely finish bottom 5 this year, I figured we should have a thread for discussing the implications of where the f***s will finish in the standings. As well as what factors could affect where they finish.

Tonight was interesting as all bottom 5 teams earned 2 points sans the Ducks and the Hawks.

Hey Folks,

Want to clear some of the air here, Tank talk is not an issue, please talk tank to your heart’s content here, totally understand how critical it is for that Future Potential Top pick. The issue is posting in the GDT, like you want the team to lose or make posts that you are angry they are winning or won the game, or bashing the team for not tanking.

The main reason is, to respect your fellow members. The GDT is about discussion of the game on a live basis and then post game discussion and opinions. A lot of fans are not rooting for the team to lose, and everyone has their views and opinions towards tanking, and may not want to discuss tanking in the GDT

If you guys have any concerns, feel free to PM me or another mod, and would be happy to explain more in detail.

Thanks!

Leo

Man if we just would’ve lost in reg to Colorado we’d be in great shape right now. Oh well good loss. Can someone explain how they’re guaranteed third, how does it work if Ducks were to win against LA and sharks lose their last game?

So, Chicago playing against Philly means they very much have a chance to earn another point or two. I hope the Queens show up for our last game and take the W in regulation, as that would secure us a franchise player in the Draft. Columbus might find a way to squeeze out one last point as well.
The Islanders play Montreal tomorrow. A single point would eliminate the Penguins. They could walk into their game against Columbus completely demoralized and Columbus gets Buffalo in the last game of series of four games in 5 days.

Their game doesn’t matter to us since SJ owns the tie breaker against us. Meaning we can’t fall below 3rd pre lottery and you can’t fall more than two places post lottery. So currently, we can’t pick higher than 5th overall (and that would be worst case scenario).

San Jose can technically still get passed by both Chicago and Columbus though. Just not us. That’s because Chicago has 2 more regulation wins than they do. Not sure what would happen if both finish with 60 points and 18 regulation wins, meaning I don’t know who owns the next tie breaker between them.

Kings will be playing at the same time as Seattle and need to get at least a point to stay ahead of the Kraken. It is a meaningful game for them.
