True, I forgot his January loan, but when he was purchased, he originally stayed and played on the U21.

Andrey Santos was someone similarly purchased that they wanted to bring into the 1st team immediately, and he'll have a shot with Poch to make the first team now that he's in England.

I don’t know really. If we sell both Partey and Xhaka i think we are back to square one. We’ll have an almost brand new midfield that will probably need some time to adjust. I’m not worried for the future but next season might be a wash.

Rice is an upgrade on anybody in the midfield, sure Partey outperformed him before Thomas got injured with Ghana last year, but picture if Rice was on Arsenal last year and not with David Moyes. There is a chance he would've looked better in our system and cast than Partey did. We do need to sell some players though to recoup some of these funds and Partey can bring back a lot. I would like to keep him, but I am not sure how likely he will want to play a backup role considering how legit he was last season. He might see it as a step-down and there's nothing we can do about players wanting to leave to play first-team football. Plus, we are linked from a good source for Fofana, which will increase depth in the midfield if Partey and Xhaka do truly leave.

I agree on that part. I’m just worried about the transitionpart, but if Arteta wants him so bad he must truly believe Rice can settle in immediately. That is vital. Ideal in my book would be to play Rice and Partey together but from my understandning Arteta wants to play a more offensive formation so there might only be Rice as a defensive alternative. Then it makes more sense to cash in. Still need a good backup for Rice. Is that Fofana? I have nothing on him.
