And remind me - how much did MacAllister cost? ~45M? I wouldn't call him an established world class player (just a narrower definition for me here), but he's certainly a top player that is only 24.

All I'm saying is that Liverpool has never been about trying to attract a prime Benzema or whoever. They've had plenty of past success with buying players that can immediately slot into the team but still have potential to grow. And you can still buy those types of players for 50M or less.
I mean.. he's a midfielder in a place of need who was starting for the World Cup winning side. Not everything, but he's definitely of an elite caliber that many clubs would be happy to attract.

Yes, they don't go for the prime Benzema. They want to attract a player who they can develop and mold, and probably more importantly get 4-5 seasons out of before they move on. However, they do have some top level talents they've attracted (Allisson, VVD) who certainly had other options.

I’m not so sure about that. His contract is up in 2025 and they want him for the World Club Cup.

Liverpool should sell here unless the player has told them he doesn’t want to leave. Of course Salah and his agent have been quiet during this latest phases. I think Liverpool have already agreed to sell, but I could be wrong about that.
I agree that I think the price will go down. Though Harry Kane stupid money has certainly changed some of the market.

However, I think most would have been resigned to seeing him depart for 60 to Madrid or PSG (especially with all the lunches he seems to take with them). If they can get 100-120 in summer, I would take it in a heartbeat. But it still has to be predicated on him wanting to go. If he doesn't, you ignore it.

Yeah, it’s an important point him wanting/willing to go. That’s why I said that would have to be the case before you accept.

I don't think he really wants to go. I think if he did, he would be there. But as I've said a few times, the money is going to be so absurd that he might feel there's no real option.

Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Jonny Evans, Sergio Reguilon, Rasmus Hojlund, Altay Bayindir, and Sofyan Amrabat. That’s a whole lot of meh. 7 incomings and you hope only 2 are in your starting 11 this year.
I think it’s been an okay window. Hojlund is a big risk with how raw he is, but I like his skill set a lot. But it’s a big risk for the fee with the development he needs.

Mount I wouldn’t have minded if the midfield was more set. He’d be nice as a guy to add to a finished midfield not to be a lynchpin. Just don’t think he can play as an 8 next to Case.

Onana is fine and was an overall improvement in net.

Amrabat is a great depth signing. But the midfield needs a young long term
solution at the 6 and 8.

Bayindir is a backup, don’t really care much either way there.

Reguilon is whatever. Just a warm body to get us through till January.

I‘d give it like a 6.5/7 out of 10, but if Hojlund pans out that would jump it up a little bit. We desperately need to find a younger better Amrabat and Case next season. Fixing the midfield long term will go a long way.

My hot take: Salah you can leave if Klopp agree, all funds available for re-inforcement otherwise you stay put.

No because we’re trying to win. He can wait until January
TBD. I think January or now won't change much and risk of injuries. Supporters always freak out about 1 player leaving.

I must admit I cried when Torres left, but since then I don't care that much on players leaving, it's all business. Suarez, Gerrard, Coutinho were all irreplacable at one point. It's always more than 1 player and alwayd will be. The key player of that team is not even Salah, it's Alisson and not even close in my head.

You also don't sell your club legends to f***ing Saudi Arabia with two hours left in the transfer window. Where the f*** is this shit coming from, how can any of you think this is acceptable. We just beat Newcastle because of Salah and Newcastle/Saudi are deliberately trying to ruin their competition. f*** that. They can have him on our terms or not at all.

Wonder how they got the breakthrough.
Well according to Loic Tanzi, PSG answered with a 75+15 final offer or we're buying someone else. No Ekitike involved.
And Frankfurt overplayed their hand and accepted.
Which is already big overpayment.

The term is most expensive transfer of all time and to be fair even after the deadline they will push hard for him might even drag until december

They can eat shit then. We have the player, they don't. We need the results, they don't. Our terms or not at all.

They're not replacing him today, so there's no reason to accept the deal now. Saudi's still have 3 weeks left in their window. If they're desperate they'll keep upping the offer. Money means nothing to those teams so they'll just keep going.

Yeah I mean I am not accepting anything for Salah today. Let them keep upping their offer and see what happens between now and January. Spend the next three months getting the replacement(s) lined up/tapped up/released clauses up/etc. Adeyemi is the obvious play if they can figure out how to get a guy out of Dortmund. Heck go get Adeyemi and Schlotterback combo deal

I'm kinda just furious over the situtation, a little annoyed that some of our supporters don't see this for what it is. An entity that owns a team in our league is attempting to use another one of their entities to unsettle a player and destroy their competition. It also escalated after we beat them. I never post conspiracies, but come on it doesn't take a genius to figure this one out. This is why the door never should have been opened for groups/people to own teams all over the place.

You should blame the premier league to have accepted the sale of Newcastle not the supporters. I do not see conspiracies, LFC with or without Salah are a good team.

I blame the supporters for some of this commentary though. What would you be saying if Man United was pulling this shit through another one of their clubs? It's the same thing. Newcastle are our competition and they own a bunch of clubs. None of them should be allowed to have our player on their terms.
