how’s everyone feeling about MNF?
Depends on if Sean’s Defense comes prepared to tackle, and if Dorsey decides to be creative with his playcalling to slow down the Jets defense that will be amped up to play.

We haven’t seen this team show up since about week 10 last year. Regardless of the score, if they show up I’ll be happy.

After week 10 last year the bills went 7-0 in the regular season (literally didn’t lose a game), won a playoff game, and then laid a dud. All while dealing with massive injuries, crazy weather, and a player nearly dying.

I have never seen a group of fans become so jaded with a great fun team like I have seen the bills fan base

Youre right, there were a ton of variables at play. 'Showed up' isn't the right wording, either. Peaked is probably a better suited word.

I have to admit, I am a bit nervous that the defense may have peaked. They're older, and more flaws have become apparent over the past 2 years. I also wonder if the system is too basic. I remember a Bengals player mentioned that before one of their matchups last year. If the D line can eat, then I'll be way more confident.

We may have a bit of a retool on the horizon in that regard. The good news is, we have Allen, and he's shown he can go freaking nuclear for a month, so hope isnt even close to lost.

Im still excited for this season. Go Bills!

I don't think we are jaded but all of us saw some flaws exposed after halftime in that Packers game. The league did too.

A team having a flaws and going 8-1 is a far cry from “not even showing up”. The bills were never quite right in the second half of the season and didn’t play to their potential…and they were still one of the best teams in the league.

I think part of the reason they were so "basic" was the loss of Hyde early on. They'll have to figure something out once him and Poyer move on/retire, but having him back should in theory allow a bit more non-basicness in coverage.

The team was never right after the Miami boiler bowl. By the time of the bengals game there was nothing left. But lost in the first Bengals game is that they were rolling to start that game as well.

Were those flaws missing several important starters on defense and having no real pass catching options besides a hobbled Gabe Davis?

If so, then I’m a lot less concerned this year. I don’t know why anyone would take anything from 4th quarter garbage time yards and points scored in a multi-score win.

I’m not jaded, and I get the injury point. But some of those games were closer than they should have been. Especially the playoff game. If you think 1st half and second half Bills last year were the same team then I don’t know what to tell you.

So why are you arguing with me? I want to see the good Bills. That’s literally all I’m saying.

The bills WERE good the second half. They went 8-1. The fact you and so many bills fans don’t think they were good is outrageous and (in my opinion) a bit spoiled. If they play to their potential all season they will likely win the Super Bowl. If that’s your standard of showing up and being good, that’s silly

Because you said they didn't even show up, which isn't even close to accurate.

The Bills “didn’t play to their potential” vs “didn’t show up” is splitting hairs.
Let me rephrase.

The Bills didn’t play to their potential since the 1st half of the GB game. As long as they look good again, I won’t care about the final score.

Is that better?

If we want the Bills to win the Super Bowl, I think it should be “okay” to have high expectations and then be dissatisfied with another early playoff exit. And if they come out against the Jets the way they came against the Bengals, I’ll be f***ing upset. All I’m looking for in this game is a return to Super Bowl caliber play.

With us not playing today I’m interested in seeing:
-How the Bengals and Browns look against each other
-If Jacksonville continues to take steps forward
-How the Chargers and Dolphins look against each other

With it being week one I won’t read too much into anything and there will be other things to track but to me, these are my top 3 things I’m interested in today.

KC and Cincy have two of the most explosive offenses in the league but they have looked ordinary or worse in their opening games so far. But you know they're going to figure it out and get right, because they are two of the most explosive offenses in the league.

I hope people keep that in mind if the first few series for the Bills are underwhelming.

Burrow looks horrible in the rain, they may have to pull him ?
Most QBs do when it's down pouring. I wonder if there's a stat for QBs that played in the most extreme weather conditions last year because it felt like Allen played in a lot more than usual.

Imagine what the talking heads would be saying if the Bills had a first game like the Chiefs had or a first half like the Bengals are having now

I mean the bengals offense laid an absolute dud in the playoff game befor the bills, and should have lost to a backup QB if it wasn’t for an awful goal like turnover. The only difference is the bills lost the game they weren’t good in.
