I am a good example of that actually. My shoulder sounds like Rice Krispies when it moves in any direction and it’s because I threw way too many innings and way too many curveballs from ages 13-15
Which is why you don’t throw curveballs at that age. Nothing new about that knowledge

well the pitch clock certainly isn't good if fatigue is a concern

My shoulders crack and pop like that too. Its disgusting. Grew up strictly playing baseball. Then added basketball to the mix in the 5th grade. Then played HS bball and softball from 04-08. My knees are now wrecked too.

Too many falls, slides, and general wear and tear. I can't even be in the heat anymore lmao

The loose eligibility rules of the WBC kind of bother me. I can look past the one grandparent born in Italy so you can play for the Italian team rule, but Marcus Stroman pitched for the US in the last WBC and now he's pitching for Puerto Rico. Even FIFA won't let you do that - once you represent a country at the senior level you're stuck with them for life.

Worst part is, these younger kids are hurting their arms more than ever. I see it even when my nephew plays. And he's a pitcher. Luckily he's had great coaches around him to protect his arm. But the amount of kids on other teams or towns I see trying to throw curveballs or purposely have a funky arm delivery. These are 9 year old kids. It's not good.

Too many kids relying on upper body and not their legs to drive off the mound to throw the ball. Also Japan used to be similar with breaking pitch problems destroying young pitchers arms, although the pitch that destroyed their arms was the infamous forkball. Guys who threw it incorrectly would tear up their elbows badly.

That does need to be sorted out. Stroman shouldn't have been allowed to switch that easily for the WBC. I think WBSC may try and amend the rules after that. But the eligibility for the national teams should follow a similar format to FIFA or World Rugby.

The reason pitchers only go 5 innings now is an overreaction and overcorrection to the generation of Mark Priors and Kerry Woods who had severe arm injuries after throwing 120 pitches a night - but the issue itself was more about their mechanics - If you throw 75 pitches with your elbow pronating 90 degrees then you're going to be worse off than someone going 130 pitches in an overhead motion with no elbow or shoulder rotation like Nolan Ryan. Though in absolute fairness Ryan was a freak of nature, strong ass man with durability beyond his peers. Even in an orthodoxly safe pitching motion you still have a limited amount of miles on the chassis before you have to rest.

A couple months ago I was watching a Tom Seaver game on youtube and was fascinated watching him pitch because his upper body looked so effortless while winding and throwing and the power was all legs. No one stretches out like that or drives power from the knee in the modern game.

Clemens, Ryan, Schilling, and Johnson all got their power base from their legs. They drove off the mound rather than forcing their arms to do all the work.

What a great birthday this has been for me. If the USA caps this day off with a win, I'll go to bed smiling extra big.

The numbers don't lie. He already is. His 7 year peak WAR of 65.1 and average WAR per year of 6.9 are higher than Mantle's 64.7 and 6.1. And Trout still has years left to further add onto it. He's one of the top ten players of all time and he's not even done yet.

Great regular season player but when I think of MM I think of WS coming thru in big moments

Trout gets up in 7h down by run i expect him to strike out

I’m rooting for him to win atleast one and me mvp of WS bur hour glass sand is accumulating on the bottom

It's not his fault that the owner of the Angles is a meddling jackass who thinks he's Jerry Jones and makes the team dependent on Ohtani and Trout to bail them out every single time.

Happy Birthday 5 hours late- favorite meal ( what was day like

Thank you! It was a very good birthday. I haven't felt this happy about it in years. It was exactly what I wanted and needed. Very low key. No stressing. Just pizza and pasta from my favorite local restaurant. I didn't want to go anywhere. Just wanted my parents, siblings, and niece's and nephew. Parents surprised me with a special cake from the local bakery. The cake resembled the one i had when I was 3, which is not only my 1st memory, but the best birthday I ever had. So that was really nice. On top of that, the Bruins won. Team USA won. It was a good time.

This WBC has been AMAZING to watch. I know many people hate it. But it'd been exhilarating to watch.

that sounds like a great day, good for you. I don't hate the WBC at all, just would like it in like November maybe and not right during spring training.
