Hopefully Diaz will be okay. That is a freak thing. The WBC has been extremely fun to watch this year.
Try being a Red Sox and Patriots fan - picked for last in both divisions as of nowthis has pretty much finished me off. It's just not worth it anymore. Can't keep putting all this emotion into something I have zero control over. It's clear, the Mets and Vikings just aren't meant to have nice things, high hopes or championships.

Legit drives me nuts that hockey can't figure this stuff out. That's an amazing stat. Too bad hockey, basketball and baseball couldn't arrange
play based on what country you are from.
Ha that made me laugh. So I was ok, maybe his knee was unstable and would have given out in April, but no, just read it happened on a collision celebrating. Good times.I will attend your memorial, but I will not vote to convict Lou.

It's not figured out. We haven't had a best-vs-best hockey tournament since 2016, and we probably won't have one until 2025, at the earliest. We've missed an entire generation of top level international play.Am I missing something? Didn't the NHL let its players attend multiple Olympics during this century to much acclaim? That was a million times better than the WBC.
I agree with the NHL not to do so, though, when games are held in time zones that make viewership far too small to justify shutting down the league for three weeks.

If you don't want to do best-vs-best at the Olympics because you're worried about television, then that's understandable. But if you go down that road, then I think you need to have the World Cup every four years without fail.
Grow the game so baseball team owners can make more money.Diaz' injury is exactly why I am not a fan of these international tournaments. If I was a Mets fan I'd be livid that my closer suffered an apparently serious knee injury while playing in a tournament instead of for the team. It's bad enough when something like this happens during spring training but at least then it happens while getting ready for the team's upcoming season. What is the purpose of this tournament???

The crowds in Asia and the Caribbean have been electric. We don't typically hear a roar like this until the playoffs. Of course, the U.S. TV audience hasn't compared with Asia since the Carter administration.Seems to me the players really like it. I mean, the Diaz injury happened as a result of a celebration over a huge win. The players clearly care. Mike Trout has gotten to play the most meaningful baseball of his career.
f***ing brutal. Sorry, Lou.
