I'm a Frederic fan but if you can make that work with the cap I do it in a heartbeat, then call up Viel.

The first round pick might turn into a Batherson level player but most likely will he another Lysell.

The 32nd placed offense in the league should be all over a deal like that.

Although why is Ottawa trading it's 3rd leading scorer who is signed to a nice number for another few years?
I can’t remember who the Overdrive crew had in the other day but they were talking about the Senators and made it sound like it wasn’t going to be a coach show the door if they didn’t improve. Rather it would be some players.

Probably a pie in the sky threat but it would be nice if Boston was on the other end of a hope and a prayer trade from another gm.

"Have to hold on to that first."

Yeah for a guy who if you're lucky, will be a contributing player six years down the line.

And you get an excellent player approaching his prime, signed to a reasonable deal for another two years after this one. For an impending UFA and a pick.

If that was on the table, Sweeney would be fired for negligence if he passed.

I wonder who the two teams are. Probably Anaheim is one seeing we have a history. St Louis could be one because they saw how Freddy likes to play against them. I’d really like to think Pasta for Tkachuk, but why would Ottawa do that?

Pastrnak has far more value then Tkachuk, check any survey and Pasta is always included in the top 10 or so players in the NHL, Tkachuk is lucky to crack the top 40. Don't be fooled by this year's poor start, Pastrnak is an absolute top shelf superstar. Meanwhile in Ottawa people are calling for Brady to be stripped of his captaincy after the game against Vancouver where he once again snapped and got kicked out of the game. For all of his hype, the Sens just keep on losing. In Ottawa he's lucky to be playing with Stutzle, contrast that with who Pasta plays with.

I'm a Freddy fan but that would be a very good trade for the Bruins. That's an easy yes from me.

Zero chance the Bruins do that trade if it includes our 1st.

The difference this year is the Bruins are far from a lock to make the playoffs, thus the potential for a high draft pick.
Sweeney could deal it with a protection clause. i.e. If it's a top15 pick the Bruins keep it and surrender a 2026 pick instead.

But man, we can't complain about the prospect pool if we also keep insisting he deal his first round picks.

I like Pasta a lot, I would like Tkachuk more. A modern day Neely and the team could rebuild its identity around him.

I expect the first to be dealt and I am fine with it as long as it isn't for Yanni Gourde or 34 year old rental. If you have to include it for a player in his prime who helps for the next several years vs a gamble on an 18 year old I would do that every time.

Detroit and Buffalo hoard draft picks, how is that working out for them?

If Boston misses the playoffs I’d bet your lunch money the last thing Sweeney will need to worry about is that first rounder.
