If fans sent death threats to John Henry, they could never get in trouble because he'd deny they existed.
He probably traded his best bodyguards to Steve Cohen for a couple trainees too.If fans sent death threats to John Henry, they could never get in trouble because he'd deny they existed.

I would actually find it sad.Lolol how comical would that be.
There are five plausible scenarios for how this could unfold:
1. Song defies the longest of odds and makes the Phillies out of camp as a reliever.
2. Song is unable to meet the loftiest goal — making a big-league roster in five weeks after not having pitched in three years — and the Phillies place him on waivers. If he clears waivers, he is offered back to the Red Sox for a $50,000 return.
3. Song shows enough in the next five weeks to make him intriguing, but too much of a project for a contending team to carry on its active roster. The Phillies trade him to another team better equipped to keep him in the majors. (The Rule 5 stipulations would still be enforced.)
4. Song suffers an injury while trying to return to pitching shape, and the Phillies delay a decision on him by placing him on the injured list (while adding him to the 40-man roster). The rest of the league, specifically Boston, would pay close attention to this hypothetical situation.
5. The Phillies attempt to challenge conventional business by citing a rare situation that buys them more time with Song.
Yes yes yes. About damn time. It's beautiful.
I think its absurd, 6 seconds left and gets an infraction and the pace always slows in certain situations in baseball with runners on. Is Machado supposed to prepare for the pitch and get the sign from the dugout while having to watch that ridiculous timer (which still has 6 seconds on it)Yes yes yes. About damn time.

It's a league where attendance and viewership are trending down, and the demographics are consistently trending older.
They need to do something.
In fact, they've needed to do something for quite a while.
Agreed.I highly doubt someone on the fence about watching baseball is going to be ultra intrigued by a pitch clock violation.
Agreed.
But I also don't think they're ultra intrigued by 30 seconds of equipment adjustments, spitting, short walks around the pitcher's mound, and a half dozen practice swings between pitches, either.
