Why would the team change its name? The Miami Nations of Indians of Indiana recognizes an opportunity to educate about the history of its tribes, their cultures, and the land.

“We are grateful to the Indianapolis Indians for the opportunity to share our story with Hoosiers throughout central Indiana,” said Brian Buchanan, Chief of the Miami Nation of Indians of Indiana. “When the history of Indiana is studied, the major influence of Native American people is seen in the names of Indiana cities, state parks, rivers, food, celebrations and other cultural points of interest. We have encouraged the team to remain the Indianapolis Indians.”
Dude, you can just provide that info without asking me why they should change the name.

I hope those f***ing losers are gone

Ya this is a little strong

To be clear I don't particularly care about Casas' pregame routine. Just hit. But it doesn't surprise me that veterans had an issue with his weirdo routine.

Ya I don't see it as a big deal if some veterans were irked by it. Doesn't make them "f***ing losers". Casas is a nobody at this point. But if he produces he can go full Pedro Cerrano for all I care.

Can you place a bet on NU?

Not unless this guy is taken seriously. But, that hasn't stopped the legislature from taking measures.

That petition has nine signatures. You can find nine anonymous people to sign anything. And, like most stunt legislation meant to signal rather than address something, that proposed law is pretty laughable.

So I think it's safe to say no one is really asking Indianapolis to change its name.

You missed the point.

Hell baby
I could see how sleeping on the floor in front of your locker might irk some people.
I’m a big floor layer, perhaps that is why I took such offense to it

I don’t understand them being upset at him catching some rays in the OF well before the game. Gotta let the peacock fly

A lot of his actions could be construed as attention seeking. I don't think that's the case, I think he's just a quirky dude, but a rookie comes up and starts acting, admittedly, weird he's bound to take some shit from guys. None of it really sounds like a big deal. I mean the whole article is about Casas taking it in stride and adapting.

I also don't think there's anything wrong with intentionally making yourself a "character" and I'm sure a bunch of guys do it. What is professional sports without marketing? But some other guys probably see going outside the norms as a right you need to earn. Or something.

In conclusion,

This is a pretty fascinating thread from a current player

I never knew how arbitration really worked and man it's easy to see how these things turn contentious. An organization like Tampa, vaunted for their analytics, comes in and tears you down using disingenuous arguments, stats, and comps so they can pay you less than you're worth. But you're still a valued member of the organization! Also seems like a case where you're double boned for not making enough to hire an experienced agent. I expected something much more formulaic.

another iconic sign is gone:

the Baltimore Sun ad at Camden Yards is being dismantled and removed much the way the John Hancock sign was at Fenway.

Gonna miss that iconic Baltimore Sun sign. The only thing that made John Hancock iconic was it was there for a long time. It could have said Harry Schmedlap and been "iconic". Maybe the most overrated story in Fenway history.
