I have said in the past that I rely heavily on goal Diff when trying to figure out where we might end up picking pre lottery. At the start of last month when some chicken littles were saying how no way we will end up picking in the top 10 pre lottery. Of course it's still a long season but when you look at the games they have coming, it was clear that this likely was a bottom 10 team give or take a spot or two maybe. But I have also always said most on HF can't see the forest through the trees.

Losing Monahan and Savard also had a big impact. We're a noticeably weaker team without them.

I’m a chicken little since before season started and still think we need to forget about top 5 and top 10 will be tough but hopefully possible.

that just seems crazy to me, since the tankathon site has us sitting in 8th and the toughest part of the schedule didn't even start yet. Their goal Diff has dropped badly over the past month and things are only going to get much tougher. Then you have the lottery. There are clearly some very terrible teams in the NHL this year but the Habs are one of them, if not top 5 then top 10 most likely. Having 2 really good forwards and a super young blueline is not likely going to cut it over the long season.

We've had injuries and there is no way our bottom 6 players go all year with literally no production and just can't see us falling below the current worst 6 teams in the league, especially with the positive culture around the team....but listen, I hope you are right, I'm dying for a top 4 pick...

top 5 looks real tough to make but with the lottery it comes down to luck. If they don't get a top 5 pick then so be it, I said a month ago I had them picking pre lottery around 8th so for now that's what I'm sticking with but that schedule is rough and this team is terrible imo.

You're that confident in Armia, Pitlick, Gallagher, Drouin, and Dadonov?

They will get a point here and there, but it won't move the needle.
They aren't All-Stars but you should expect 5-10 goals from them each

Trading vets will be key. Monahan and one of Eddy or Savard, preferably Savard. Hughes will wait for the market to heat up as we approach the March 3rd deadline. But the sooner he can move them the better.

I don't see Anderson's contract moving midseason. Whether one likes him or not, he's a net positive and moving him would help the chances of a top 5 pick.

God I hate that corny ceremony

Tonight, if Habs lose in regulation

+

OTT wins
VAN wins
NSH wins

They all pass Habs.

If all those things happen, Habs will end the night in 26th place.

Also, if Florida loses in regulation

+

BUF wins

Sabres move ahead of Florida.

even in a losing season, there's so much to cheer for on any given night, woot! Big night!!
