Ohtani deserves better. Could only pitch 4 scoreless innings before cramps took him out. Went 2/2 with 2 walks and his 40th homerun. Angels lose in the 9th.

Sale and Houck both starting games for Worcester this weekend. Sale’s velo is back to normal so that’s huge

Extra Innings

1.
A scout for a National League team, who has seen the Red Sox’ FCL affiliate in Fort Myers regularly, came away raving about catcher Johanfran Garcia, 18, who was signed as an international free agent in January of 2022 for $800,000. Garcia has a .980 OPS in the FCL, his first year stateside. The scouting report reads as follows: “Strong, muscular, durable, with a highly agile body with quick feet, and a take-charge confident defender. A plus arm to all bases, and runs well for a catcher. Bat can be a Gary Sanchez-type power producer, with sound hitting actions, and the type of strength to to drive the ball to the big part of the field. Projects as a above-average skill-position player, supplying a 5-hole bat.”

The beautiful thing about him is even if he doesn’t hit he’s a value big leaguer. If he does hit in the bigs he may end up being the best player out of the entire system (including Mayer/Anthony/etc). The only question is if he’s going to chase too much

I know it was all just roster management and claiming a player who was up for grabs based on the structure of the Rule 5 rule, but it really felt like a dick move to claim Song after the Sox waited patiently for years for his naval commitments to be over that finally when he was released from his commitments he happened to be technically eligible for rule 5 and the Phils swooped in to steal him.

Now that he's back, I'm rooting for him. But I don't expect a whole lot. Missing 3 years of development to serve active duty probably crippled his career. But if baseball doesn't work out he's got a backup as a flight officer in the navy so good on him.

On a side note, Kolten Wong got released. Considering the smoke around the deadline I wouldn't be shocked if Bloom brought him on now.

The way I look at it: he’s likely not getting to the bigs so at least the Phillies cut him a big league check for a few months

Reports are is that Urias is primary 2B going forward. So Sox will have to choose between Chang and Reyes come time for the return of Story.

Not a bad run with us, should generate interest from another team. Seemed like a great clubhouse guy. Like with Kikè, had to happen though

I keep Chang over Reyes personally. Give me the + glove all over the infield. Reyes can play OF though so that could be a deciding factor too

Arroyo is gone replaced by Urias or Reyes I imagine. I really disliked his game but I am surprised. Urias is not the right move on general principles. He is hitting .145, I am sure he will go on a rampage. It's pure Bloom.

Someone is a dumb f*** because you disagree?

Says more about you actually
Yep, but he's too cowardly to actually engage and discuss anything. Instead it's placing people on ignore.

old enough to remember when ppl tried to frame that situation as the Phillies outsmarting the Sox just because they hate the front office so much lmao
I'm pretty sure 99% of Red Sox fans didn't give a flying f*** about something called Noah Song. And they still don't. But you do you.
