I checked b-r to confirm, and I don't know the parameters of how they define the last month, but over the last 30 games for each club, Cleveland is 18-12 while the Sox are tied with Baltimore and Toronto at 17-13.Fun fact the Red Sox have the best record in the AL over the last month
Looking more at the standings breakdown, the main thing that's setting us behind the pack is our record against the crappy AL Central and interleague. We're 16-11 against the East, tied with Baltimore and only one game back of the Rays in that respect. But we're only 11-8 against the Central where Toronto is crushing them at 14-3 and Baltimore and Tampa have a good 17/18 wins against them (in more games played to be fair). Interleague is killing us, we're 11-18 against the NL where the rest of the AL East is at least .500 or better. Interleague is the only thing keeping the Yankees above .500 right now too.
