Savoie vs Kulich should be interesting and close
Not based on voting for #2.
Just judging by the conversation around here the past year -- people are very high on Kulich, and some seem to feel that Savoie brings somewhat of a redundant skillset in comparison.

Certainly fodder for an interesting discussion...I don't have much of an opinion on it myself, either way, as they seem about even.
I thought that was Kulich? Sabres are full of players and prospects with elite shots.

That is just about the most inaccurate way you could frame that.
Well let's see you frame it more accurately then. I said:

"I don't get it. All year long I am aggressively told by this board that Savoie is our top prospect, going to be a top line player, and is untouchable in a trade. Now we draft his younger linemate from juniors and he is passed on the list by both Benson and Kulich? What happened? Shiny new object syndrome I guess."

Now here is where you present your own good thoughts, instead of just saying my thoughts are dumb or wrong. Lets have more conversation and thoughtful discourse.

Who said you are dumb or wrong? Why don’t you cut out the weird internet-victim complex. And no one aggressively told you anything about Savoie. Again, stop being a victim. What actually happened is you shared thoughts on Savoie, and people disagreed. Big deal.

And your point doesn’t make any sense. People can be extremely high on Savoie AND not have him as the top prospect. Why are you acting like people being big on Savoie is somehow inconsistent with liking Benson/Kulich more?

(Now he is where you explain who called you dumb or wrong. And now is where you explain how people liking Savoie a lot is inconstant with likening players more.)

You did. I made a post and your only responce was to say, "That is just about the most inaccurate way you could frame that." You basically said it was wrong, but offered no other insight. I asked you to reframe it. with your own thoughts instead of just saying I am wrong. Your aggressive response tries to pull attention away from the argument, which makes me think then that your NOT able to reframe the argument more accurately?

Savoie v Kulich and Ostlund v Rosen are both likely to be pretty close races.
I literally almost added that same point -- 100% agreed.

I have a hard time ranking Rosen and Ostlund, who are the exact same physical build, but different types players obviously. Both playmakers, one has blazing speed, the other one has a 200' game and crazy high IQ...Rosen will probably score more goals, if I had to guess, but Ostlund plays center, which is more valuable, and a more complete player...I'm stuck.

So.....your saying you NOT able to reframe the argument more accurately?

Shocker, you responded to nothing. And yes I absolutely did. You posted your doubts and Savoie and people disagreed. No one aggressively did anything. And then I explained that just because people liked Savoie a ton, doesn’t mean they can’t like other prospects more…it doesn’t take away from the Savoie opinion at all.

It is no hard to follow, your point didn’t make any sense. Please explain how people liking Kulich/Benson more than Savoie somehow takes away from their Savoie opinion. You can’t, let’s move

I love it when people in an argument try to get the last word and then say, "Lets move on." Moving on. :P
I love it when some posts some weird “I told you so / victim complex” post and it doesn’t make any sense and they can’t back it up. You can get the last word all you want, i said let’s move on if you aren’t going to actually debate your post or explain how it makes sense. I’d love if you tried to explain your post, but you can’t and haven’t even tried

My list, regardless of how the vote goes, is this:

1. Levi. Projects as a franchise goalie who can steady the defensive zone, steal games, and give the team confidence. Plays the new style movement game already. Best NCAA goalie last year and almost played the Sabres into the playoffs.

2. Kulich. Pro ready forward with an elite shot and an already strong body, and he's only get stronger. Played his team into the WJC finals and almost beat Team Canada. Phenominal rookie year in the AHL. Projects as a top line goal scorer in the Pastrnak mold.

3. Benson. Elite mind and motor. Best playmaker not named Bedard in the 2023 draft. Understands where everyone is at on the ice, and manipulates defenders to create openings and seems. Exceptional work ethic and never quits. Short area game is elite. Marchand type of playmaking winger without the antics.

4. Savoie. Relentless center with speed in the Brayden Point mold. Goes to the tough areas. Creates space with his speed and some of the best lateral crossover skating of any prospect. Elite shot. Projects as a top line dual threat center.

5. Ostlund. Elite passer and a natural center. Understands passing lanes and how to get others open. Could be elite and never score more than 15 goals in a season. Growing, and could eventually develop into a Backstrom style center who isn't flashy but does all the things you need to have happen to win.

In a risk based model one would assess the magnitude x the likelihood and weight the time horizon along with the onset velocity. To use an example:

player A: F
Magnitude: 60pt winger
likelihood: 80%
horizon: d+4
onset velocity: 12 months

player B: D
Magnitude: 40 pt 2nd pair
likelihood: 90%
horizon: d+2
onset velocity: 3 months

applying such an approach allows you to assess impact on the bigger picture as well as between players. In the example above you get a higher end contribution from Player A but you don’t get it as soon. Like the time value of money, is 90% of 40 pts in two years worth more than 80% of 60 pts in 4? That is up the evaluator. You can replace likelihood with confidence interval. Same principle and some may disagree on their level of confidence. Just food for the discussion.

lol. I have no idea what post you are even talking about anymore. Not sure you do either. I explained my first post because I was the one that made it. You said it was framed inaccurately. I asked you to frame it accurately. You didn't/couldn't, so you went on this tirade trying to change the subject of the discussion, because your initial post was only meant to antagonize, not start meaningful conversation. You want to have meaningful, respectful conversation? I would be happy to engage that any day of the week, with any poster, regardless of past interactions, because I am a HUGE Sabres fan, trying to have fun chatting about my favorite team on a message board with other Sabres fans.
