I don't get it. All year long I am aggressively told by this board that Savoie is our top prospect, going to be a top line player, and is untouchable in a trade. Now we draft his younger linemate from juniors and he is passed on the list by both Benson and Kulich? What happened? Shiny new object syndrome I guess.
I'm quite interested to see where all the Benson voters go for the next one. I know where I'm going and I'll explain there.....but it'll be a good debate, methinks.
I didn't realize ranking prospects was based on who is currently the better player. This would be the only explanation Kulich gets a single vote. Savoie still has a significantly higher ceiling than Benson.I mean.....Adams and Forton both said that when they and scouts went to watch Savoie play, they came away thinking that Benson was the best player on the ice.
But yeah, shiny new object syndrome.
I disagree. I think Benson has the higher ceiling....I don't think it's significant....but I do think Benson does have the higher ceiling.Savoie still has a significantly higher ceiling than Benson.
A slower player with a worse shot has a higher ceiling?I disagree. I think Benson has the higher ceiling....I don't think it's significant....but I do think Benson does have the higher ceiling.
The NHL is littered with players without high-end physical traits such as speed/shot that are always near the top of the points leaderboards. There’s a lot more to the story.A slower player with a worse shot has a higher ceiling?
I didn't say that. Benson and Savoie are both elite prospects with similar size speed and skill. I just think Savoie gets the edge overall due to those traits. The NHL is littered with players without high-end physical traits such as speed/shot that are always near the top of the points leaderboards. There’s a lot more to the story.
If speed/shot were all that matter in determining ceiling, Isak Rosen would pretty clearly be our top prospect.
Yep.A slower player with a worse shot has a higher ceiling?
Who was the better player.. Tyler Ennis or Jason Pominville? Kulich is more than just a shot. Kid put up incredible numbers up against men. The other two still have a lot to prove as we saw with Savoie with his stint with Amerks. It's not just about who has the highest ceiling.I didn't realize ranking prospects was based on who is currently the better player. This would be the only explanation Kulich gets a single vote. Are you really going to base it off two game stint in the middle of the playoffs against the Bears?Who was the better player.. Tyler Ennis or Jason Pominville? Kulich is more than just a shot. This is not a playmaking vs scoring argument. Savoie has an excellent motor and playmaking abilities as well. Two prospects are neck and neck. The only edge I give Benson is passing. I am not even convinced at that size, he is fast enough to even excel in the NHL.Yep.
If you think Savoie has more potential as a goal scorer…ok. But we’re talking about the potential better player aren’t we? Which involves a hell of a lot more.
Who has more potential? Shane Wright or the better skating, far better shooting Joakim Kemell?
I'm basing it on what we have seenAre you really going to base it off two game stint in the middle of the playoffs against the Bears?

On two games. That is your sample size for Savoie in the AHL. Not even enough time to adjust.I'm basing it on what we have seen
The list of first round busts is also littered with players without high-end traits. It's a tricky thing that can go either way.The NHL is littered with players without high-end physical traits such as speed/shot that are always near the top of the points leaderboards. Ummm...Who has more potential? Shane Wright or the better skating, far better shooting Joakim Kemell?
You do that.On two games. That is your sample size for Savoie in the AHL. Not even enough time to adjust.
Anyways I will just say I told everyone so in 3 years when Savoie is a 80-100 point winger.
Voted Benson. Will vote Savoie next round. Rationale: I like the skill set and the way Savoie works his angles and sneaks that shot in, and his work in motion. Good vision on this one and a hard worker.I'm quite interested to see where all the Benson voters go for the next one. I know where I'm going and I'll explain there.....but it'll be a good debate, methinks.
I voted Benson and was coming to post about Savoie vs Kulich, but I'll also save it. I'll just say, for me, #3 will not be a tough choice.I'm quite interested to see where all the Benson voters go for the next one.
