You have a cadre of people like myself approaching 70 or are in their 70's. It very well could be 2011 was the last Cup for the majority of them. At least those fans saw 3 Cups though.

And Bobby Orr.

And Espo and Bucyk and Cheevers and O'Reilly and Bourque and Middleton and Neely and Chara and Thomas and Bergeron...

After looking at the full EK65 trade, maybe Don needs to get back on the Hertl Train. Mike Grier traded Timo Meier and Erik Karlsson in like a span of 6-7 months and got 2 1sts and trash in return.
Although I have been advocating waiting and see what they have right now I think Sweeney should take a look at what it will take , but I would not be wining and dining Grier , it should be here is what we will do take it or leave it ........ I would not be against moving Lysell as a start , cap movement and Sharks retain at least 2 mil .......

How do we know Sweeney didn't already do just that?

And Grier left it.

The Sharks won't be retaining salary on two contracts lasting four and seven more seasons. It'd be madness if they even considered it after the Karlsson trade.

even more so they didn't get more for doing it, 1.5 million dollars!!! Like I guess i agree with the concerns on injuries at his foot and what not but he just won a friggin Norris Trophy and scored 100pts in this age which is just insane.

In fairness to Mark, that "rumor" came out the day before and he's just jumping on the bandwagon.

I have no idea what is going to happen with Krejci. But here is DK46's own words just a day before coming back for McAvoy's wedding:

"I don't think I'm going to 99 percent start the season anywhere. In the NHL, in the Czech Republic, not even in Europe. If it takes me until Christmas to decide, it will be until Christmas. Of course, I will maintain myself so that a few weeks or a month is enough for me if I decide to jump in,"
This is exactly what I was hoping for and what I wanted for Bergy as well. Unfortunately it did not work out for Bergy. On the other hand, if the Bruins are able to meet the surprisingly positive projections I have seen of a 100 point season then a HUGE opportunity could present itself doe Krejci's legacy. It might elevate Krejci right up into the rafters alongside Bergeron if he were to help the Bruins win a cup on a miracle run; he may as well try if they are in position. :)

Honestly don't think Krejci gives a damn about his legacy.

Well they did not retain as much as many of thought was going to be needed on the Karlson deal and Burns deal runs out after next year and the Sharks have Cap space now and will not be contenders for sometime..............They can keep Hertl and pay the whole freight not something that would concern me..........

Sounds like Kreech is ready to join the Bruins sometime in the year 2024, hopefully just before the trade deadline.
He wants to play in the WHC which will be in his home country Czechia this year, so doubt he joins the Bruins, as he would not be able to go if the b's are still in the playoffs.

Seems like he’s going to see how the bruins are doing and if there’s room for him too, in addition to taking his time. What a luxury. Deciding when to work at age 37
This is hockey though, if he isn’t truly keeping up with conditioning as a 37 year old it’s going to take a long time to get back into it. Heck his body may not allow that. Id be very cautious thinking he can step into a top 6 role.

I just hope a young guy or Coyle/Zacha make that need not necessary.

That is odd to me. I would think he cares. If I were in his shoes, I might feel I already deserve to be side by side with Bergeron.

Anyhow, I guess I'm trivial, because I would prefer my good work to be remembered. I think most athletes care about their legacy, maybe even more than a schmuck like me.

Again, I don't know what is going on with DK46.

What I do think is that if you're going to put something out there, you best check the European sports coverage, because a lot of times what a Euro players is saying there, it doesn't match what is being "reported" here.

I'm old. I'm tired and don't want to do other people's homework for them.

I do wonder though, if that story I quoted was read first, if the rumor of his retirement would have still been put out there?

Possible PTO's,

Potential Bruins PTO Targets

When looking at the Bruins’ roster, it is fair to say that it could use more forward depth. Yes, they need a top-six center desperately, but it also would not hurt to explore some potential bottom-six options, too. As a result, a few professional tryout contract (PTO) targets who could make sense for them to consider include Colin White, Paul Stastny, and Pius Suter.

White, 26, is a Massachusetts native who has had past success in the NHL but also saw his production drop noticeably in 2022-23. In 68 games with the Florida Panthers, he had eight goals and 15 points. Yet, when noting that he had 10 points in 24 games the season before and a 41-point campaign in 2018-19, he stands out as a possible bounce-back candidate.

Stastny, 37, could be a center to take a look at on a PTO. The veteran center posted nine goals and 22 points in 73 games for the Carolina Hurricanes this past season but also had 45 points in 71 with the Winnipeg Jets the season before. If signed, he could be a decent addition to their bottom six and would give the Bruins more experience and leadership.

Suter, 27, is also an intriguing player who could be worth taking a chance on. He offers great versatility, being able to play all three forward positions. In 79 games this past season with the Detroit Red Wings, he had 14 goals to go along with 24 points. Although it was a down year for him offensively, his defensive game improved significantly, and he emerged as a solid penalty-killer in the process.

All three seem like good C depth possibilities to me. They can't have too much depth at C.

I hope they get a sniff.

White is pretty much a RW now. An almost completely invisible player. He's a 4th liner, there is no offense there waiting to get out.

Remember when Harry took Ray Bourque to arbitration?

He can f*** off for eternity. Three decades with no cup as a GM speaks for itself.
Yes I do, so what? Doesn't change the fact he was a great GM. He didn't like to overpay for players, he was right most of the time

Ray made out ok, his restaurant sucks but he's landing on his feet.lol

I get it. I'm not clamoring for the guy. I barely know who he is.

My point is that they need all the depth they can get at C, and you never know what you might find out there.

If not White, someone else. What about Stasny or Suter? Anyone else?
White's contract is 4.75 thru 24/25 and his stats look Frederic-esque. Ehhh ...
