Written proof that you don't need to know that much about a sports front office philosophy, to write about it. Dumb, da, dumb, dumb, duuuuuumb. Would you want those 3 from the Kings, not me.
This trade idea is based on what value the B's would need to include for supposed equal value.
Not taking into account that the player doesn't plan on playing for his current team beyond this year.
Team looking at a player in Scheifele situation has more leverage than to make such a an overpayment. JMHO
Also from the Globe:

Keep an eye on Winnipeg, where the Jets won’t allow pivot Mark Scheifele to exit next summer as a UFA. They’ll look for an asset package similar to what they recently received from the Kings when unloading Pierre-Luc Dubois ahead of the final year on his deal. The Jets received a trio of forwards they’ll plug right into their roster — Gabe Vilardi, Alex Iafallo, and Rasmus Kupari. Scheifele, with a career scoring average of 0.9 points per game, could slot in with the Bruins at No. 1 or 2 center (right shot) for the next 4-5 years. Assets akin to what the Kings yielded: Jake DeBrusk, Pavel Zacha, and perhaps Fabian Lysell. It would hurt. High-profile deals often contain pain.

That's gross

300 faceoffs in 58 games, 500 faceoffs in 71 games… that’s a lot of faceoffs for a winger. Maybe he’s just not an ace so other folks take draws in critical spots.

As soon as they acquired Horvat they moved Barzal to wing. You can see his FO take a HUGE dip once Horvat came to the team. How huge? He took just 2 face-offs from the time Horvat came in to the time he (Barzal) got injured. He then took zero face-offs in the playoffs.

Can someone text me to let me know when I can stop laughing please? It would be greatly appreciated.

Trading lysell for a 30 year old is where I lost it and didnt go further into the proposal. Stastny I say is because he probably the only decent center left which will cost you crumbs in terms of aav and no assets.
Glad you aren’t GM. Signing a 4th line past his prime vet instead of letting a kid earn that ice time is madness

Villardi > DeBrusk - slight edge to Villardi due to age, ability to play center, and contract status.
Zacha >> Iafallo
Lysell > Kupari

Dubois is 5 years younger and was a RFA not UFA. DeBrusk+ for Scheifele is fair as a base but not including Zacha and Lysell.
I am not moving DeBrusk for Scheifele straight up let alone a + whatever that might be...........

Yes, I do know he played wing after the Horvat trade. But why does that matter? The kid has been a center his whole life, he’s played center in the NHL his entire career save for a handful of games after they got Horvat, he played center for a team that beat the Bruins in the playoffs that had Bergeron, Krejci and Coyle, he’s a productive plus center in the regular season, he’s a productive plus center in the playoffs…. Regardless of what the Islanders do with him, he has proven he can be a prolific, play drving center in the NHL.

If we traded for him I’d have no reservations about playing him at center… if the Bruins had just picked him in 2015 this train would just keep on rolling.

One of them costs assets to trade for + 9.1 mil....the other is already on the team.

Not sure what one has to do with the other to be quite honest.

Ya and I’d trade the assets and take on the contract in a heartbeat over signing Frederic for $3m but I was more implying people saying barzals contract is a disaster than actually trading for him.

Ah...tbh I'm not a huge fan, because I have questions if you can win with him as a 1C, I think in an ideal world he's your 2nd line C as a 1B.

That said on a team starving for Cs I dont think anyone should be against a 25 year old center like him.

I’m probably in the same boat. I see him along the lines of an elite #2 center, but not sure if I would want him as the #1.

He would instantly be the #1 here though. He’s not even available. I see how my original post could have been misconstrued, I wasn’t specific at all in what I was implying. I was more talking about comments saying barzals contract was a disaster.

I’m right with you on that view of barzal though.

There's a few, but there seems to be some polarizing views on said players.

C's around age 30 that could be available (I'm sure many have made their opinion about them known.
Expiring C UFA's reported to be traded for and extended
Scheifele
Lindholm

Expiring C's (under 30)
Austin Matthews
Sebastian Aho
Alex Wennberg
Jack Roslovic
Max Domi
Chandler Stephenson
Jason Dickinson
Tyson Jost
Sean Monohan

Matthews and Aho likely re-signing unless they want to leave. Most of the rest of that list doesn't look like anyone to break the bank on (nor or many of those guys even 1C's)

Well, we could trade for one then, right? By that point we would not have had a first round pick for 2 full seasons.

Basically the picks Sweeney has made need to start connecting on the NHL level, otherwise the C options are limited, or you are getting a player that either has some sort of caveat that makes them a non-ideal target.

So we either need to settle and work with the skill set we can get, or we end up draft/developing. Which at the moment, unless I'm highly underrating Poitras, expecting him to be that this soon, feels like a recipe to disappoint. He probably seems like the prospect with best upside.
Another player that could be available is Sam Reinhart, hoenstly I would take him over Schiefele and the salary is about the same.

Such a good center that his team went out and traded quality assets for a 1C, then gave said center an 8yr extension and moved Barzal to wing. Just because a guy can "line up at center" doesn't mean he's good at it. His career 42.3% in the dot is awful.
